				Weekly round-up
2 wins for klayeckles in Division A this week means that he can still take second place if he gets 4 points from his last 2 matches, while rexhurley is relegated. Nothing to report from Division B and Division C this week. It is still up for grabs in Division D where carpenkm needs just 1 point from the very last match against sarmation to win automatic promotion. If sarmation can win that game 4-0 then he will take the top spot. Division E has been finished for a while now.
Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
pantherboy (Division A) 6 matches
lydianed (Division B) 4 matches
Match completion rate (30 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 28 out of 30 matches completed
Division B - 28 out of 30 matches completed
Division C - 28 out of 30 matches completed
Division D - 29 out of 30 matches completed
Division E - 30 out of 30 matches completed
These are very good match completion rates.

Player of the Week: klayeckles (Division A) with 2 wins this week.

				Weekly round-up
Division A finished this week with another victory for champion Nosy_Rat (Andalusian) . In Division B paulmcneil (Byzantine) narrowly defeated fellow-struggler Karvon (Free Canton) to post his first win of the season in his final match. Karvon now needs to get a point from his last match against CyberHetman (Berber Murabit) to avoid the drop and send paulmcneil down instead. Nothing to report from Division C, while in Division D a fifth win for Kroche (English) keeps him in the promotion race. In Division E Tratmot (German) needs just 2 points from his last 2 matches to take second place.
Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
Nosy_Rat (Division A) 4 matches and finished
CyberHetman (Division B) 5 matches
SLancaster (Division B) 5 matches
Triarii (Division B) 5 matches
Marvin_The_Arvn (Division D) 4 matches
Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 45 out of 45 matches completed
Division B - 38 out of 45 matches completed
Division C - 40 out of 45 matches completed
Division D - 34 out of 45 matches completed
Division E - 42 out of 45 matches completed
Divisions A, C and E have good match completion rates, Division B is slow and Division D is very slow.
Player of the Week: no-one this week.

Re: Last week of the Tournament: please check these lists . . .

Last week of the tournament everyone. I am a bit concerned that some of the divisions are slow and may not complete by the deadline (next Sunday, 15th August 7pm UK time). There will not be any extensions granted. Can I remind everyone that it is expected that you finish your matches. Failure to do so may affect your future entry rights. I am actually coming to the view that I need to take stronger action against slow play from next season onwards. The season is just about 10 weeks old already - it will be tomorrow, in fact. So we have got an extra week this season, as I like to give everyone a full 10 weeks to complete their matches. But I have just done a check and there are 11 players (out of 96, so that is around 10%) who still have 20% or more of their matches to complete. Just one of those players has a legitimate reason for slow play that has been notified to me. 10% is too high and I will need to do something a bit different for the start of next season.

				Thanks Pete for your work.
Of course I agree that something should be done about the issues you raise.
I only hope this would not affect too much those players who managed to keep up with the pace of the matches.

No, it will not affect them directly at all. It may, in fact, help them to enjoy the tournament more as slow play is reduced. I have a number of things I can do from restricting the number of sections individual players can enter, or making the Time Control checks a bit tougher to pass for those players who have been deemed "slow" in previous seasons, to excluding players who are repeat offenders altogether for 1 season if I feel they have been ignoring me (and Anders and Ian on the adjudication panel). I don't want to run a league where the matches are not completed and players drift away at the end only to come back again for the start of next season (e.g. Slitherine's automated tournaments). And I don't want reliable players to have to waste their leisure time wondering if their match(es) is/are going to start or continue. I know I cannot eradicate it completely, but I can make a bit of noise about it.

				Division A
klayeckles (Persian) defeats pantherboy (Median) 41 to 12
PB advanced on the persians who initially sent their cav fleeing for the hills..as the medians ventured into bow range the persian cav turned to face them with the combined archers of the persian foot. the medians initially crumbled in a withering barrage and turned to run for cover. As night fell the persians managed to close the distance with a cav wing and eek out a decisive victory in the last moments of daylight.

klayeckles (Ptolemy + Romans) defeats nycar (Carthage) 63 to 50
a skin of the teeth victory... he had reached the soft gooey center of my army and was about to shatter me...but for an autobreak that put me over the edge...a tense one! GG nycar.

				Division C
Morat (French/Normans) beat General Shapur (Normans) 63-38
A match which turned on the French heavy horse being able to collapse their opponents left flank before their own left flank was collapsed in turn.
Thanks to General Shapur for a good game.
