What a pleasant surprise. I have thoroughly enjoyed playing as the Imperials. Thanks for the kind comments. I’ll have to get my fighting trousers on for next season.

by Nijis
Division B

Nijis (Khorasanian) defeats lunecastle (Scots) 61-39.

The Khorasanian forces dismounted most of their horse archers and took up positions on two stony hills. The Scots, furious at the intrusion of the Central Asian raiders into their sacred homeland, stormed the leftmost hill but the Khorasanians' remaining mounted force was able to help repulse the attack on the right. Much of the Khorasanian infantry was slaughtered but some managed to scramble for safety on the hill still held by their companions. The Scots would not settle for a standoff, and their spear formations launched an assault on the remaining Khorasanian holdout. It came very near to overwhelming the defenders. But a desperate Khorasanian counterattack down the slope supported by their cavalry succeeded, and the Scots finally broke.

Division D

Kroche (English 1155-1271) defeated carpenkm (Anglo-Norman 1072-1154 AD with Welsh (North) 1100-1295 AD allies) 50-6

Later period knights benefited from their extra armour to win the cavalry clash and could then support the English (and some Welsh) spearmen to roll up the Anglo Norman spear and missile troops. Thanks for the game carpenkm.

Division C

snooky51 (Roman 105-25 BC) defeats carpenkm (Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC) -- 41-14

Carthage lost nearly every impact roll on the Roman line's charge and there was not much my opponent could do after that.

Division C

snooky51 (Roman 105-25 BC) defeats ironclad (Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy) 216-203 BC with Bruttian/Lucanian 420-203 BC allies) -- 45-3

Roman legions were able to go 1v1 with inferior imitation legions, some good rolls in less favorable matchups allowed the Romans to hit flanks of engaged Carthaginians.

Well done Captain, lucky I didn't agree to the draw in our match and talked you in to attacking.

Division B

oscarius - Spartan 221-146 BC with Roman 280-220 BC allies beat batesmotel - Bosporan 84 BC-10 AD with Sarmatian 350 BC – 24 AD allies - 55 / 29

Evenly dispersed rough terrain, woods and high ground meant there was no real easy place for my opponents lancers to try make a breakthrough and instead they were gradually shot to pieces on the flanks. The infantry fight went my way also with bates' commander getting cut up into pastrami by my hastati leading some tribal foot into battle. My higher quality infantry then gradually won the day. Well-played, luck and positioning were both to my favour.

It was, and I have to thank you for your very sensible advice, though I thought it was a foolishness at the time. It makes up for my actual foolishness in attacking you last season.

Division E

Kroche (Seleucid 300-206BC) defeated Barrold713 (Saka 300 BC-50 AD with Seleucid 166-125 BC allies) 61-46

Very close game where the Saka skirmishers and Romanised infantry had the advantage in the initial stages. Remaining Seleucid force kept some cohesion as they moved to avoid the quality of the Saka main force and managed to make gains vs the Saka light and medium troops to edge the victory. Was a bit of cat and mouse in the latter turns and if it had gone another turn the result could have been different. GG to Barrold713.
