A real bloodbath at the bottom of the table

I was fortunate it ended when it did as I had two units fragged and in combat that probably would have turned it in to a draw!
(3-1)

I think the campaigns of Flavius Aetius would be fun:
1) First Gallic campaigns against Visigoths and/or Franks
2) Campaign against Boniface (Roman v. Roman)
3) Second Gallic campaigns against Visigoths, Burgundians and/or Bagaudae - not sure if there is an equivalent army in the roster
4) Battle of Catalaunian Plains against Attila

klayeckles (Ptolemy+Rome) defeats Morbio (Samnites+) 43 to 15
The skirmishers and noble cav earned their keep...drawing off the charging samnites long enough for the ptolemy legions to get the job done.

				Division A
Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats Challenge1 (Hannibal in Africa) 40-11
Not trying to awkwardly copy klay, but this was also a case of skirmishers and armored cavalry doing the bulk of the heavy lifting in the match; disrupting and routing enemy skirmishers before retreating back to the safety of the phalanx without too much trouble. This left the elephants without much protection when they tried to push the flanks, and three of the four beasties were routed with some help from nearby pikes. It was only toward the end of the match that the phalanx started to lumber forward and engage the weaker portions of the Punic infantry (aka NOT the veteran spears). Good game to my opponent.

				Pool B Semi-Final
Captain Savage English defeats carpenkm Norman 62: 44
A much tougher battle. The left wing was a complicated mess from the start as the French were tempted down from the hills and suffered as my reserves form the centre arrived to tip the balance.
The right flank was a standoff for about 8 turns as I tried to manoeuvre for advantage and was blocked. I trickled in some reserves from the centre in this direction as well but then the Norman centre swept down from the hills and started to thump my depleted centre. As a very chaotic melee developed opportunities arose for some of the cavalry to get involved and cause some damage and the distraction also allowed my cavalry on the far right wing to dodge past the defences and get into the Norman rear. Despite the loss of my entire centre there was enough losses caused elsewhere for victory to go to the English. Thanks for the game carpenkm who put up a dogged resistance even when some chaotic knightly charges disrupted his plans.
Captainwaltersavage beats carpenkm 2-0 and goes through to the final.

				Division E
Kroche (Babylonian) defeats gamercb (Phoenician) 54-26
A good game which changed course a coupe of times. Babylonians took a big lead in the early stages which was rapidly clawed back once the bulk of Phoenician forces got within melee range. Then some stout defending from some Babylonian massed archer units (lasting more than 2 turns of melee) coupled with the brittle Phoenician spearmen routing to order got the Babylonians the victory. GG to gamercb.

I've looked at the players digital league guide post and I cannot find information about the basic structure of the tournament. For example, top 2 players of each division advance to a single-elimination round? Is that single elimination round best 2 out of 3? I'm certain all this information is spelled out somewhere because you are so well organized, I'm just not finding the right post. Can you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much!!

It is just a basic league, apart from the Themed Event. Players complete their 9 or 10 games and we get a final table. The top player is always automatically promoted and any player who gets 7 wins or more and doesn't come top is a candidate for "discretionary promotion" and will quite often go up as well. Similarly, at the bottom of the table, the very bottom player is always relegated and any player who wins 2 games or less and does not come bottom is considered for discretionary relegation. This happens rather less often than discretionary promotions as there is a longer term tendency for regular players in the tournament to drift upwards as some top players do not return for another season.
If you look at the archive thread you can trace the progress of players over a number of seasons . . .

If there are less active people in a higher ranked division (for example, people who only complete 3-5 games), any chance that someone with a win record of something like 6 win / 3 loss from a lower division would promote into a spot vacated by a less active player?

Blagrot - Germanic/Gothic Horse Tribes 260-492 AD with Dacian (Carpi) 107-380 AD allies beat ggarynorman - Roman 379-424 AD 61% - 39%
My right flank warbands were caught just before making it to the safety of some rough terrain but their fast cav escort delayed the Roman cav long enough for some of the warbands to clear out their limitani and auxila opponents. The left flank was a mess of horses trapped between a marsh and a lake but the Gothic horse archers and larger numbers flanked and broke the Roman horse, light archers thinned out some legios enough to let the lancers break through the middle with heavy casualties, no corner of the fight went smoothly but all eventually went my way. Thanks for the game

If a player only completes 3-5 matches out of 9 then the chances are that they will not be invited to the next season. Unless they have a serious "real-life" issue that makes it impossible to continue.
Yes, 6 wins and 3 defeats can be enough to get a player promoted. It all depends on how many players enter from one season to the next. If 90% return then 6 wins may not be enough, but if only 60% return then it probably will be.

I don't understand the result. I definitely had more luck in the mele. It also helped a lot that I had played the game with a computer before, so I knew about the hidden horses, while my opponent probably didn't and therefore didn't have time to react properly.
