Pool B Semi-Final
Kroche (Norman) defeats Zawzgrzyt (Anglo-Norman) 61-45.
Very close match, greater Norman numbers managed to get the victory. GG.

by Morbio
Division A
Morbio (Samnites) defeats Geffalrus (Antigonids with Greeks) 60-51
The Antigonids again had a wild ride, but too many wild rides and eventually you will fall. The initial phase was the Samnites trying to avoid the headlong rush into pikes, while the Antigonids counter-moved to secure the flanks. Eventually the result was a combination of both some Samnites charging the pike line with a few managing to get some leverage on the flanks. The deciding factor was some Samnite units lasting longer, in melee with the pikes, than expectations and a couple actually winning! The battle was in the balance until the end and the Samnites were subdued in their victory celebrations as the mourned the heroes from both armies.
(3-1)

What do you fancy? There should be another medieval DLC out before we start, so we could go there. Or we could choose something else from FOG2 Ancients. All suggestions welcome.

Division C
Captainwaltersavage Phoenician 681-539 BC defeats deeter Babylonian 626-539BC 59:32
The heavy Chariots of the Phoenicians swept all before them while the medium troops battled over the rough ground in the centre and the Babylonian chariots were shot to pieces. The #Assyrian guards were nearly my undoing but were finally brought down attacked from all sides. Great game!

Division A
tyronec (Anglo-Saxon) defeats XLegione (Dailami) 42-12
Difficult battle, the Dailami had a hill and looked like they could hold out on it.
Thanks for the game.

Ancients. Medieval should have its own league.

Not enough players for two separate sections at the moment, let alone a completely separate league.

I second ancients

How about something along the lines of the Hun/Goth/Alan/etc migrations? Presumably there would be a nice mix of games?

How about Barbarian battles in Britain. Don't get many games with these armies fighting each other and no Romans involved.
Round 1 - AD 0. Ancient British/Caledonian/Gallic/Scots-Irish
Round 2- AD 500. Anglo-Saxon/Pictish/Romano-British
Round 3 - AD 600. Anglo-Saxon/Pictish/Scots/Scots-Irish/Viking
OR
Crusader battles from the latest release.
Depends on what you are going to do with the Medieval period but if you were just going to allow the additional armies that would give a very wide range of army lists, maybe more than is needed. So perhaps then not include the Crusader area armies in the HMA period.

If Medieval period warrants it's own game, it should have its own league or at least its own division. Battles in Britain sounds good.

FOG2 Medieval is not much different from FOG2 Ancients, to be honest. Just a few different units, so it is not really a new game, just a re-packaging of what we already have. And it does have its own division already. It is called High Middle Ages. Season 10 had 60 players, Season 11 has only 50. So we are going in the wrong direction at the moment.

We did something like this in Season 7. Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Irish etc.

Yes, Crusaders could be a possibility.
A league section only works well with 40 players minimum, in my opinion. Less than that and you can get some divisions with really uneven match-ups. So that means I would need to recruit 80 players across the 2 sections (some players would enter both, of course) for it to work. So I would want to feel that there is more momentum in the High Middle Ages section in terms of player recruitment before I would consider splitting High Middle Ages into 2 parts. If in Season 12 we can get 60 players again and plenty of reserves too, then I would think about it for Season 13 next year. But for Season 12 I am likely to just include the new Swords and Scimitars armies with all the others we already have.

We did Avars in Season 8. I will have a look at what else we could offer for migrations. So it could be a possibility.
