Captainwaltersavage - Achaemenid Persian 480-461 BC with Greek 680-461 BC allies (1600) defeats joggy - Pyrrhic 274-272 BC (1600) 66:57
A very tough battle that went right to the bitter end. The battle turned on a few moments of luck. The Pyrrhic cavalry got very lucky and wiped out most of my cavalry wing. On the other hand my Immortals carried on fighting against a phalanx for three turns whilst fragmented, and were still giving as good as they got. A chancy charge by some plucky sparabara finished off one disrupted phalanx which was just enough to push me over the finish line. Could have easily been a draw. So many Persians dead! It was almost a Pyrrhic victory (see what I did there).

by Geffalrus
Division A
Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats ericdoman1 (Sparta) 49-9
The Antigonid victory was due in no small part to the fact that the field of glory in this case was as flat as a literal game board. As such, the sizable cavalry contingent of lancers and light horse was able to operate quite freely along the flank of the Spartan battle line. This freedom meant that when some good shooting fortune by the light troops disrupted and then fragged a flank thureo unit, the nearby lancers could immediately exploit the opportunity. A nearby cavalry and raw legion failed their cohesion check and were summarily run down by the crazed lancers. Now the Spartan line was faced with pikes to the front and multiple heavy cavalry units to the rear, a distinctly untenable situation. A ferocious thureo charge attempted to salvage the situation, smashing through some citizen hoplites like the Kool Aid Man, but the damage was contained by more pikes, elephants, and lancers.
Very good game to my opponent, who certainly made me work hard for each and every unit routed.
The Antigonid cavalry threatens the Spartan left flank......

The battle of the Dirt mound. a large difficult hill sat dead center, but egyptians had a slight edge getting there first. as the two sides engaged on the mound it all came down to who could flank the enemy's weak side first...ptolm got an early edge and turned the corner by a nose.

by Karvon
Division B
Karvon - Arab (Conquest) 638-684 AD defeated ulysisgrunt - German 888-932 AD with Magyar 830-1049 AD allies 56-3 for a 4-0 win.
The battlefield was a challenging one. A major river ran along the foot of mountains on our left, effectively masking that flank even though there were a couple of inconvenient crossing point. Not far from the river, a couple of mountainous peaks rose abruptly than dropped down to some gentle hills sprinkled with rough in about the middle of the field. Roads across the center of the field both N/W and E/W with the mountains and hills looking down on them from all sides. Fair sized forests lay beyond the central hills on both sides on my right.
We opted for a full compliment of our spearmen and Dailamis supported a few bowmen and Bedouins. We brought all our light foot mix plus a pair of light lancers. A pair of camels backed our handful of lancers. Our initial plan was to push about half our spears up the river valley on our left and the other half, supported by our Dailami and other mediums, would push up the other side of the mountains through the hills in the center. Our lights would screen in the center and our lancers and camels would form our reserve in the rear.
The Germans initially deployed a large mounted wing of armored lancers with a couple of horse archers in the river valley on their right. A long line of dismounted armored lancers formed up in the center screened by a few light foot and supported by a few defensive shieldwall lurking behind them. A few armored lancers formed up to protect their left supported by a couple of light horse.
My plan was to push forward aggressively on the left along the river valley and thru the central hills to a point overlooking the road running across the middle. I would shift my light foot right and soften up his lancers and perhaps draw them forward to a point where I could surround him with my lancers and camels.
Our plan unfolded about as we hoped. On the left, our spears supported by some shooting pinned down the enemy lancers and slowly pushed them back, as they mostly fell back after combat. We did manage to pin and break a couple of them as the day wore on. In the center, our spear line halted on the slope overlooking road with our Dailami holding the right in rough ground. The dismounted Germans lancers, relying on their better armor, tried to push us off the hill and this turned into a long grinding fight. On our right, our skirmishers shot up some of the opposing lancers and drew them forward. One of our lancers tied up his light horse on our far right in a long running melee. Our lancers supported by camels ganged up on them, slowly encircling and flanking them. Initially, he pushed forward a spear to try to support, but under a barrage of missile fire and threat of flanking by the watching Dailami, these fell back disordered.
Then, In the center, we pushed back and turned the right end of his line and his right wing lancers finally broke leaving his engaged spears left exposed. Some of our lancers slammed into this and rolled it up for the victory.
