Eternal Empire Competition Draw on Tuesday 17th September
Posted: Mon Sep 16, 2013 5:56 am
I will be conducting the draw on September 17th from 16.00hrs Australian Central time, which is 7.00am English time. Players for each group will be drawn randomly so there is no seeding in this tournament. Anyone could end up in any of the 4 groups. The tournament will start on October 1st and this will give you all time to practise with your respective armies.
Just to re-cap; this will be a mirror match contest where you will also use your opponent’s army. To begin with you will all be divided into 4 groups; each group will have 4 players. Players should play their mirror matches simultaneously as all group matches must be completed by Sunday 3rd November. Armies will be 400pts and please set to Fog of War and Double Moves. Any terrain may be used.
At the end of the first round the top 2 players in each group will advance to the quarter finals. These quarter-final matches will be between the Hussites and the Later Hungarians and will again be mirror matches. The players with either the most wins or the highest score aggregate will advance to the semi-finals phase which features the Battle of Kosovo 1389. The same will happen here with mirror matches and the players with most wins or highest score aggregate will advance on to the Grand Final featuring the battle of Grunwald-Tannenberg 1410.

The format will be . . .
In the first phase, players play in groups of 4 and have three "mirror matches" against their opponents. Players will be allocated their main army by a pre-competition draw. The top 2 from each group will go through to the knock-out stage where again all matches (quarter-finals, semi-finals and final) will be mirror matches. The player with the better aggregate score will progress to the next round. The semi-final and final will use scenarios designed by myself - two famous eastern European battles, Kosovo Polje and Grunwald-Tannenberg.
Group matches must be completed by Sunday 3rd November; quarter-final matches by Sunday 17th November; semi-final matches by Sunday 1st December and the final by Sunday 15th December.
