Lydianed (Mamluks) 19/34 vs Supervark (Medieval Cypriots) 49/48

Yes, you read that correctly. The Mamluks actually beat an opponent. The Mamluks formed up into small bands and harassed the enemy with their (normally ineffective) bow shot. The Cypriots retaliated in kind but didn't have the numbers that the mamluks had and so began to lose ground in an attritional battle. The Cypriot knights sallied forth but were evaded and isolated by the more numerous mamluk cav. Lots of Cypriot spearmen stayed put in a defensive line on a hill behind a wood. Had they joined the attack the outcome would most probably have been different.

Historically, the Anglo-Irish were constantly fighting Muslim cavalry armies roaming across the vast plains of Ireland, so they evolved a tactical system specifically designed to beat horse archers. The secret to it is having lots and lots of angry, inebriated Irishmen. If they're drunk enough, they don't even notice the arrow hits.

In this battle, we were fighting to protect, at all costs, one of the natural springs where Guinness bubbles up out of the ground. The Irish anger was whipped up to a fever pitch, and frankly the poor Mamluks didn't stand a chance.

A head long clash of the Almughavar, assisted by some Turcopoles and Knights, against a wall of English spearmen and longbowmen, the first deployed in the open, the second in a wood, where dice rolling helped the Spaniards at taking at bay their opponents.

By the way, my first ever victory against the Generalissimo!

Well done Lysimachos. The dice seemed to be against me but ultimately you played the game well and as such deserve all kudos. I look forward to how you use your Romans versus my Gepids. You may have a double header on your hands
