That is a bit confusing given that in most other tournaments, the winner reports the battle results. After all, he is the one with the incentive to do so.

Nothing stops the challenged player from reporting the result. However, the challenger is responsible for that the result is reported.

I'm aware that other tournaments have other setups, but (a) sometimes there is no winner whereas there's always a challenger, and (b) in this specific tournament the challenger is most often the most active; having issued a challenge, set up the battle, etc., whereas the challenged players (even if winner) by definition tends to be less active. And posting results promptly is key in this tournament; players again becoming available to challenge and be challenged.

Hence, this rule.
