Challenge1 - Palmyran 258-273 AD defeated paulmcneil - Gothic Horse tribes 260-492 AD with Dacian (Carpi) 107-380 AD allies 60-45

The Palmyrans only had cataphracts left on the field and the Goths a few warbands and skirmishers which the Palmyrans were able to ride down to victory in a very close game that went down to the last few moves.

Thanks Paul!

by Blagrot
Division E

Blagrot - Scots 1155-1161 AD with Scots (Isles and Highlands) 1050-1319 AD allies beat Zawzgrzyt - Hungarian 1200-1319 AD with Bohemian 1200-1319 AD allies 61% - 53%

A brutal match that could have gone either way at the end, 2 of my units were outmatched in combat and on their last legs. My left was a slow scrap betweeen archers and irregulars against highlanders that the Scots eventtually won though credit for holding me up must go to a pair of valient rear-charging light archer unts who nearly killed a highlander group! The right was quite with my mediums hanging out in a forest to face off with a few Hungarian units and my centre was mostly dead but a last ditch rear charge by some irish kerns broke some armoured spears who were stuck on a scots spearman square to give me the win. Thanks for the game.

(3-1)

Weekly round-up
LuciusSulla (Achaemenid) is the new champion of the Classical Antiquity section after defeating close rival harveylh (Macedonian) in a crucial Division A match. Questar17 (Etruscan) was not quite able to sustain his excellent early season form into the later stages, but he still managed to finish second, his highest ever finish in the FOG2 Digital League. harveylh finished third. tyronec (Syracusan) has won promotion to the top flight in his first season after defeating batesmotel (Roman) with also unbeaten (in 8 matches) Stew101 (Numidian) finishing second. At the bottom, 2 wins for Swuul (Samnite) this week has eased his relegation worries leaving Trogilus (Thracian) 8 points adrift although he still has 3 matches to complete. Nothing much to report from Division where toska (Syracusan) needs to win his last match against paulmcneil (Galatian) to finish second. Everything still to play for in Division D where carpenkm (Ptolemaic) really needs to beat promotion rival snooky51 (Indo-Skythian) in their match together to shut the door on him. If he does not and Conteshard (Sertorius) defeats snooky 4-0 in the other remaining match then it will be Conteshard who wins the division outright. It could not be closer. At the bottom doomben (Gallic) must beat Blagrot (Hannibal in Italy) in his last match to have any chance of avoiding relegation. Nothing to report from Division E where only 1 match is left to be completed, but in Division the much awaited top of the table clash between Delbruck (Achaemenid) and Malabar26 (Thracian) turned out to be an anti-climax as the players agreed a 0-0 draw. This means that Malabar must get maximum points in his last 2 matches against Brenmusik (Slave Revolt) and MadMaxBot (Macedonian) to tie with Delbruck at the top. As this would mean that both players have finished unbeaten in this section they would both win promotion.

Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
LuciusSulla (Division A) 9 matches and finished
Stew101 (Division B) 8 matches
tyronec (Division B) 9 matches and finished
SpeedyCM (Division C) 8 matches
Delbruck (Division F) 9 matches and finished
Malabar26 (Division F) 7 matches

Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 44 out of 45 matches completed
Division B - 40 out of 45 matches completed
Division C - 41 out of 45 matches completed
Division D - 41 out of 45 matches completed
Division E - 44 out of 45 matches completed
Division F - 43 out of 45 matches completed

These are good match completion rates.

Player of the Week: LuciusSulla (Division A) who is the new champion of Classical Antiquity. :D

Pool B Final

Dim30 romans beat MarcoCato75 Seleucids 40/ 6

Romans managed to catch seleucid Cataphracts in bad position and win skirmishers first clash. So it forced Seleucid army to attack uphill and MarcoCato wasn't lucky in first combat with his pikes. Then battle looks like Cynoscephales.

Thank for the game MarcoCato.
