Challenge1 - Arab Conquest 638-684 AD defeated lydianed - Norman 923-1040 AD 43-18

The Arabs managed to force a river crossing on the right and rout the Norman cavalry and shieldwall stationed there. The Normans prevailed on the Arab left which prompted a re-orientation of the main battle lines where the Norman superior spears were outnumbered and eventually overwhelmed. Superior-Protected spears are still, point for point, one of the best units in the game, imho.

Division B

Aetius39 (Anglo-Saxon) defeats paulmcneil (Rus) 47-11

There was a large forest in the middle of the map in which some of the Anglo-Saxon soldiers hid in, while others went around and to the right of the forest. The Rus bravely came down to meet them, some engaging in or near the forest and others on the Anglo-Saxon right, where they had made a line. The Anglo-Saxon right ended up breaking the Rus line by some wide flanks and double-teaming, while the forest fight had many Rus lights broken up and other heavy units held by the forest. Ultimately the Rus routed, but put up a good fight; better than the score shows. GG!

Well deserved! Good playing this season.

A very weird map consisting of mountainous terrain didn't help the French cav or dismounted lancers, good for the shoeless Irish hordes

Blagrot - Ancient British 60 BC-80 AD with Roman 24 BC-124 AD Allies beat Stormcrow - Frankish 260-495AD with Germanic Foot Tribe 260-599 AD allies 49% - 23%

The Franks came down from their hill after realising the British would just shoot them all game if they didn't but too many warbands got caught up chasing chariots and slingers around while the massed supirior warbands were ground down by legionaries or flanked by the british numbers. Aetius39 (Anglo-Saxons) defeats Stew101 (Polish) 58-32

The Polish had the advantage of being closer to a large hill, and took it. The Anglo-Saxons decided to attack the hill, but not just at one point. They enveloped and swarmed at the hill defenses. Eventually the Polish were ganged up on or flanked, breaking them in several places. Ultimately the Poles routed, but I wonder how much was luck instead of skill for the Anglo-Saxons?^^ GG Stew, as always!
