Challenge1 - Roman 199-106 BC with Pergamene 262-191 BC allies defeated Questar17 - Etruscan 330-280 BC with Gallic 300-101 BC allies 47-21

A lot of early manoeuvre saw the armies stretched but once contact was made the superior Roman quality meant they could hold against the good Etruscan troops and easily rout the many raw units, despite having suffered at the hands of the many Etruscan skirmishers.

Tighter than the scoreline suggests, my Highlanders efforts to storm some rough terrain and kill the archers went badly wrong while the armoured spearmen faced their Scottish counterparts well but lacked the numbers to stop the second line finding a few gaps, high casualties to both sides but a last turn rally robbed Random of a deserved point. Thanks for the game

Another fun bloodbath, my chariots and cav died to a man holding up the scary lancers while a misure of loose warbadns in rough terrain and legionaries in the open broke apart the Germanic warbands, the lancers were just starting to make their impact when the last of the infantry routed to give me the win (along with a lancer unit charging some skirmishers and auto-breaking ) Thanks for the game.

Ironclad (Hunnic) defeated BishUK (Roman) 45-18

The initial Hun attack foundered on a well planned Roman defence with heavies backed up by engines and with significant counter-attacking forces hidden in the large forests. Fortunately the Huns were able to disengage before losses became too severe and with mobility restored could concentrate on overwhelming enemy wing units before their supports could reach them. Thanks BishUK for a good game.

The enemy advanced in echelon with it's weakest troops to the front, an invitation to roll up that flank which the Arabs did. Good game.

The battlefield was a coastal plain narrowed by mountains and water on both sides. However, it was a flat map with no rough ground, marsh or forest between either armies which favored the cataphracts of the persians.
