Division C

Karvon - Bulgar (Volga) 1040-1241 AD with Cuman 1180-1394 AD allies defeated ahuyton - English 1155-1271 AD with Welsh (South) 1100-1197 AD allies 46-19 for a 4-0 win.

A large steep hill sat in about the center of English side with scattered woods to the right of it. Their left was secured by some woods. We figured the English would deploy between the hill and woods.Expecting a large number of longbows shielded by assorted spearmen, supported by knights, we opted for an infantry heavy army. We brought a full contingent of Baltic infantry supported by our irregular foot massed opposite the woods and hill screened by a mix of LF. LH squadrons were deployed on each wing to probe the enemy flanks. We placed two divisions of our horse archers opposite the suspected English line and a division of lancers deep in reserve.

The English deployed about as we expected, Welsh spearmen and longbow on his right towards the hill with a mix o other spears and longbow in the middle of his line. Some knights and other horse were placed on each flank. He had a few LF screening. Our plan was to send our tidal wave of MF through the woods and hill and turn his right. Our horse would probe his left and threaten in the center in a holding action. Our lancers would stay in reserve behind the advancing foot.

Our plan unfolded about as we expected; on our right, our horse pushed forward and skirmished with and around his left dispatching some of his horse, but losing some of our own to pursuits or fleeing off the field. In the center, our horse kept just out of bow range, slowing dropping back before the enemy advance. On our left, our lights chased off his screen and shot up some of his bow defending the woods and hill. He attempted to withdraw, but we chased him down and our foot, supported by our horse, enveloped him. After chasing off my horse, his left wheeled about and attempted to rescue his crumbling center, but could not get there in time.

In a division that was as strong as some of the A divisions in other sections of the tournament, ericdoman1 and his Mongol army have pipped oscarius (and his Scots Isle army) on the post to win automatic promotion from Division B of High Middle Ages. Both players finished with 7 wins and 28 points, but ericdoman1 won the match between the two of them. Well played ericdoman1. :D
