A battle of two flanks. The Lysimachid advanced with their phalanxes massed against my left flank where I had placed my veterans and assorted supports. A little patch of rough and a slight hill complicated the scene and provided some obstacles to work around. My right flank had some cheaper troops and my elephant and my own cavalry to counter the inevitable Lysimachid cavalry wing on the open plain on my right. A skirmish battle was largely indecisive but did give my javelins the chance to denude the overextended lancers - who proved very adept at withdrawing. There was a lot of careful maneuvering before an overextended hoplite unit (chasing skirmishers) provided the stimulus for my attack. I was very unhappy that I had to fight uphill against the phalanxes to get some flanks to open up but my right flank did a wonderful job and pushing back the Lysimachids and a well-timed elephant charge smashed through a corner of their formation and the race was on to see if I could break enough units before my legions succumbed to the inevitable defeat on the pikes of the phalanxes. Everything went to plan on my side and though I took some significant losses there were more than enough successes to win the day. Great game!

Paul's longbowmen managed to score some disrupts of my line but enough medium foot made it to engage. Some very lucky rolls meant his knights mostly failed to do much damage either who I managed to tear up via infantry encirclements. A quick victory but luck definitely felt on my side.

Questar17's (Etruscan) lead at the top of Division A has been cut to 2 points as LuciusSulla (Achaemenid) posted his fourth win this week. Further back in fifth place nyczar (Spartan) has started well and is unbeaten in 3 matches, while both Challenge1 (Roman) and lunecastle (Seleucid) are still looking for their first win to move away from the bottom of the table. Not much to report in Division B except that garymann (Roman) has moved closer to front runners tyronec (Syracusan) and desertedfox (Gallic) after posting a second victory this week. There were no developments at the top of Division C where ulysisgrunt (Gallic) still leads SpeedyCM (Sertorius) and phoyle3290 (Macedonian) by 13 points after completing all his matches. toska (Syracusan) lost his 100% record this week and is currently eighth with games in hand of those just above him in the table. joggy (Spartan) is the new leader in Division D after posting a fifth win in his final match, but carpenkm (Ptolemaic) looks to be the favourite for automatic promotion at the moment having started with 4 straight wins. Captainwaltersavage (Roman) is building a commanding position in Division E following his sixth consecutive win, including a triumph over his closest challenger BobGanoush (also Roman) this week. No developments to report in Division F this week where Delbruck (Achaemenid) and Malabar26 (Thracian) currently look best placed to secure automatic promotion.

In Division B tyronec (Arab City) now has a commanding position after 2 defeats for his closest challenger Dzon Vejn (Parthian) this week. The only player now who could still make a challenge is Aetius39 (Byzantine) who has won his opening match. A first defeat for Morat (Ostrogoth) and a fifth win for lunecastle (Pictish) has made Division C much tighter, where lydianed (Caledonian) has a narrow 1 point lead at the top after completing his matches.
