The Korean War can rightfully be considered a βwar of nations.β More than twenty countries, including the Philippines and Ethiopia, participated directly and indirectly. Militarily, this was perhaps one of the most striking conflicts of modern times. It became the quintessence of all military art of the first half of the twentieth century. The Korean War had everything: tank wedges and massive use of aviation; rapid operations in the style of the last years of the Second World War and positional battles, terrible in their hopelessness, in the style of the First; large-scale amphibious assaults and strategic bombing; night battles and bayonet attacks turning into hand-to-hand combat - and much, much more
