About this issue, this is my point of view: First of all, let me say that in general terms I agree with both of you... Meanwhile, I think we must take into account in our games, treat that as an inevitable imperfection of the game (as some others) and deal with the use of that tactics: sometimes it would work in our favour, other times against our interests.Brummbar44 wrote:Trucks being used as bait has always been a down point in BA imo, I've voiced my concerns on that issue before. Ideally, transports should only trigger op fire if they are loaded. However, that is a programming solution beyond the scope of what we are doing here.
Perhaps the suggestion to use fewer transports in the battles? Making them a little more scarce might make someone think twice about throwing them away.
Hi glenghiscan, i did'nt see the games, but now it s ok and i m in.glenghiscan wrote:Welcome Burgot I'll put 4 games up password glen won't be playing much next few days I'm on 12 hrs days at work ! And my thoughts are with GUARDSMAN hope all turns out good
Not sure what to do about this. In general I agree with you. But as this problem in built into the code, there's not much we can do unless some script wizard rewrite some of the code.dickesKind wrote:Hello everybody,
maybe before the next tourney the intentional usage of unarmed vehicles to trigger reaction fire should be discussed.
To be honest I am a bit dissappointed how often it is used
I thought it is considered "bad manner" by most of the gamers and now I have trucks cruising around in front of my Somuas so that they can be killed afterwards by infantry.
This spoils the whole experience a bit.

I've bought this issue up on another thread and the Slitherine folks also said not much they can do. I do believe in a tournament there is a lot that can be done. Heavily weigh the VP points for destroyed wheeled transport. You have done a fine job in researching a historical campaign to the best of the BA game engine's abilities. We are playing a historical action and for the sake of argument let's say the Germans win a decisive victory in the first scenario, they take all the flags but at the cost of the majority of their wheeled transport. In real life their offensive would grind down to a halt very quickly.cavehobbit wrote:Not sure what to do about this. In general I agree with you. Using fewer transports would be much easier than rewrite the code. But personally I think that some scenarios need more transports than others. Especially on maps like these where you have the possibility to find new ways and tactics because of the large maps.
Well, it's great to hear all your opinions

It would be really interesting having the attacking side in the campaign (in this case the Germans) having some special rules like not being allowed you have X % of their panzers and transport killed, unless you'd have a flag penalty. Downside to this would be to find a good balance in the scenarios for this kind of victory option. But I like the idea.scole wrote:I've bought this issue up on another thread and the Slitherine folks also said not much they can do. I do believe in a tournament there is a lot that can be done. Suggestion would be something along the lines of lose a flag for every 4 - 6 trucks lost. You will quickly see the truck drivers thinking twice about giving their lives for their country in future tournaments.
