Something from Silent Hunter, perhaps vintage 1987
Try these for starters...

Hey Amaris, Have you seen Iain's latest on BA2?
Trenches would be mighty fine in the Pacific jungles...!
(but, man, I wish I had your shimmery water on my feeble Mac)

Iain's latest post from Historicon -> viewtopic.php?f=104&t=43783#p414714

Oh yeah I saw that (too drooled on my screen.)
And the graphic engine seems much smoother.

We need them.

Textures must be improved, but I am very satisfied.

Not really a ship  but here my first 'big' 3D model, the Japanese 94-6 type truck:

Image

Type 94 6-Wheeled Truck

Introduced Year : 1934
Weight : 5.3 ton
Dimensions: 5.4 x 1.9 x 2.2(h) m
Speed (max) : 60 km/hr
Engine : Gasoline Engine (Ko Model) 70HP, Diesel Engine (Otsu Model) 70HP
Loading Capacity : 1.5 ton
Manufacturer : Isuzu

Without texture, here my model:

Vertices: 2074
Faces: 3840

But I don't do any optimization. So I guess it'll be working well with BA engine. :P

Next step will be to understand how make a good texture.
And may be improve the 3D model.

I wish I knew how to do that sort of thing. very impressive again, the ability to make new unit types from thin air!

I've never done 3D model before, you must just start.

I use Gmax (free: http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax) and there are more tutorial online.

For the Japanese truck I found this blueprint: http://carblueprints.info/eng/view/othe ... er-hardtop
Imported into Gmax, I used it as a guide.

I use the German truck texture file in fact (see screenshots.)
But I think about create my own texture file for a better result.
More texturing:

I improved my 3D model for an easily texturing and so the truck is almost done:

I have improve the basis model (adding a support for the headlights, better alignment of objects) and I start to work on texture:

Vertices: 2300
