Gents, Just to quickly forewarn you, at some point today (soonish), I'm going to upgrade Dieppe v1 to v1.01...
* There's a slightly corny but effective map change to permit the Allies a deployment phase into their LCTs (can load upto 3 units into each LCT, or 1 infantry unit into each Destroyer, as players prefer) - Thanks to Amaris for another perfectly formed slice of code

* This means that Allies can start with more units (and remain under Slith's 64 unit limit per side)
* So Germans can also field more units (including some of the classes that you guys have been requesting, for both teams)
* Good Allied players could now split into sizeable assault groups, or land a concentrated force in the same place, overwhelming German defences (whether this would be sustainable or temporary, I'm not sure?)
* Far less ships for the Allies to manage (less hassle) but if a loaded LCT gets topped by a Coastal Gun, it's really going to hurt (USE SMOKE BOYS!!

)
* Freighters now sail forwards (thank you TwoEyes for the flipped barge file)
* First 5 turns are played at night, with halved LOS (a good time to land, eh?

)

Ok, Dieppe v1.01 is live now...
I'd hoped to be able to keep v1 and v1.01 available together in the same campaign, but for some reason the BA engine doesn't like v1.01, giving me some sort of MISSING_IDS error... No idea why? I've tried variations including v2, A, NewDieppe, you name it, but BA just wouldn't take it... Everything else was a straightforward copy/paste from v1, which does work... so after 60 mins of trying, I confess I've given up... Computers!!
However, the original multiplayer folder IS still available in MULTIPLAYER\GJS44\DIEPPE\VERSIONS\GJS44_DIEPPE_V1.zip if you'd like to load the new but decide that you prefer the old...
Have fun guys!

Hey LM, Be sure to go through Steps 1-7 first, since you already have an old version on your system now...
Download in the usual way
GottaLove88s wrote:1. Run BA on your Mac, PC or iPad
2. If you do not already have GJS'44 Dieppe on your system, skip ahead to Step 8... If you do have it, then you have to delete your old version first (steps 3-7)
3. Choose Multiplayer (at the bottom)
4. Log in to Multiplayer as usual
5. Choose the My Challenges tab (at the top) then press New Challenge
6. Select the GJS'44 Dieppe scenario and then Delete Campaign (bottom right)
7. Press X until you get back to BA start screen
8. Choose Campaigns (at the bottom)
9. Choose Download Community Scenarios (at the top)
10. Choose Download a Campaign Package from the Internet (top right)
11. Type
http://bit.ly/BA88dieppe into the URL box
12. Click the green tick
13. Back at the campaigns list, select "GJS44 Operation Jubilee: Dieppe v1.01" and click Download the Selected Campaign (bottom centre)
14. This should download everything that you need
15. Press X until you get back to the BA start screen and choose Multiplayer
16. Log in to Multiplayer as usual
17. Either go to the My Challenges tab and click the New Challenge arrow. This list will now show the GJS44 Dieppe v1.01
18. Or go to the Accept Challenges tab and click the scenario that you're supposed to be fighting (if your opponent has already setup your game)
After all that, you can play GJS'44 on any platform... Phew!!
Neat little instructional vid by fellow gamer IDjester, explaining how to download and setup GJS'44... Thanks mate. Nice!

Sorry LM, I just tried DL'ing to my iPad and got the same problem, so looks like it's a real issue. It's odd becos it works fine on my Mac.
I wonder if it's becos I tried to include the previous version in a zip file? Maybe it doesn't like that?
Can't fix now, but will delete the extra version tonight and re-upload.
Hopefully that will sort it out...

I think that there are too many light fortifications and heavy fortifications on the beach even though they are not needed.

Thanks CP, I agree the beaches/headlands/castle/casino might have too many bunkers/sandbags... Sure, it's historical, but maybe it's overkill, lol...
That's partly to have places for the coastal guns, with accompanying infantry to protect the guns, but yes, several are empty at the start... Germans usually try to fill 'em quite quickly tho... Meanwhile, they're darned handy to protect Allied assault units, if they can take them...
Could you pop up a screenshot and let me know which ones you'd be happy to lose?

Download works now...
Now I know what an error 705 is... It's when a Dummkopf scenario designer copies the (tiny) text name of the .CPF file (most likely using a Mac) rather than the actual (massive) file itself... Hence, there was nothing to download... Sorry guys... It's all there now (it just worked on my iPad, so should be ok

)

GottaLove88s,
About your efforts leading up to beta 1.0 - 1.1 and beyond, for the sake of brevity I'll just say: You Rock.
Cheers,
Thomas

I now realise what u mean about booby trapping the hotel lobby, lol... I defo can't see that, but maybe one has to be inside the hotel to enjoy the additional features...?
Does it still provide 63% building cover, or only 45% tank trap cover?

I have a suggestion. You can get around the 64 limit, if you use reinforcement scripts for the allies.
I think, less LCT's with more units in them will not balance well, just my humble opinion.
What I think they will do is provide fewer but far more tempting targets for cannon-play.
BUT
If you create some landing "waves" via reinforcement scripts, and include smoking units in those,
then we may find the map can be balanced to give the allies at least a (low %) chance of success.
If not that, then I think after setting the historical scenario version, you will quickly need
"what if" modifications.
I think the map is truly awesome and the concept terrific. I see a ton of potential to get this
to be a truly unique map and scenario!

That's a good idea. Perhaps this can be added to Normandy Ninjas?
