UK vs RoTW
Triarius (Gepids) 16/47
vs
Rexhurley (Feoderate-Western) 56/55

Rex made an error with his deployment and the Gepid ans Ostrogoth cavalry stormed past the close terrain while a couple of sacrificial LF tied up a Roman out-flanking move in a wooded gap.
By the time the out-flanking move disentangled the rest of the Romans had disappeared under the Gepid stampede which (to rub salt) had been aided by an unfair proportion of good die rolls

I have let you down again, my European friends. Alas, I lost all of my games in this cup, despite being the captain. But you still have the spirit to pull through!

Any status reports on the games?

My game is like 10 turns in, about 15/55 vs 35/70 or around, I am a bit busy so I wanted to finish faster and was kinda impatient. Oh well, currently 5 points down. I think I may end up with maybe 5 points advantage in the next 2-3 turns, but it should be pretty close. Maybe 60-65% chance of winning ? Cohesion tests will be kinda important :)

The Eastern Romans go marching on securing another point fro the British Isles.

Eastern Romans (Morbio) 39/54 beat Gepids (Fedem) 56/43

A map with a line of trees horizontally across the middle of the battlefield restricted the Gepids ability to swarm round the Roman foot army. Eastern Rome secured the trees thanks to the opportunity to move 1st and then held this line with MF and LF with Ostrogothic lancer support on the far right, while the HF, and all the Foederate lancers and Cataphracts created a pocket of death in the only open space. The Gepids didn't want to enter the pocket, which would have pepperred them with arrows from 3 sides, so with minimum ranged attack units the Gepids couldn't inflict much damage to the Romans whilst at range - whereas the Romans had archers in all the HF, MF plus Ostrogothic archers, so the Gepid strength was nibbled away with time. This created a long battle of 22 turns, but the Gepids were destroyed as the sun's rays began to fade.

Well played Morbio!

The mentor still rules over his pupil.

A great game vs Todd645 - a very worthy opponent. But in the words of Duncan McCloud "There can be only one"

Todd645 Romans 58/53
Claymore Visigoths 53/69

It was really touch and go. The Romans are tough at any time. That last turn was the killer.

Cheers, Claymore
