I am busy with the 3rd playtest...it's not the hot soup that is making me sweat ;). But it should be a (very) hard mission. The player is outnumbered 3:1 with a total of 235 russian units coming at you as bringers of death.

I had to come up with the mission objectives so here they are:
DV: Hold the 7 golden hexes in Greater Berlin and destroy more or less 180-200 russian units (air units also count) , the campaign continues.
MV: Hold the 7 golden hexes in Greater Berlin for a conditional surrender, end campaign.
Loss: Unconditional surrender, end campaign.

It took me 9 playtests with a few minor corrections between tests to get the release candidate ready.

I : a desperate (?) attempt to stop the russians
II: another desperate (?) attempt
This is for the players to find out.

You can ommit this scenario by gaining a DV in Budapest, but those players will get the choice to play this scenario at the debriefing.

1)Retreat from Moscow
Choice DV/MV:
2a)Minsk-Smolensk as defender - DV/MV to 3)
2b)Minsk-Smolensk as attacker - DV/MV to 3)
3)Wacht am Rhein - DV/MV to 4)
4)Budapest - DV choice: 5) or 6) MV to 5)
5)Berlin-East - only DV to 6)
6)West-Germany

West-Germany

Started playtesting the final scenario.
After the first test i made a few adjustments. For the second test the allies start with 155 units and have 16000 (!) PP in reserve.
I began with a second playtest and this is how the strategic map looked like at the deployment phase:

Image

This screenshot is with the FOG switched off.

It should be rather easy to force a breakthrough in the south.
The centre is to be approached cautiously and must be properly scouted. Perhaps there is a weakness in the frontline where a bridge engineer allows some of your units to cross and attack without the penatly of standing on a river hex.
The Berlin sector needs to be guarded at first for it will be under attack by air and groundunits.

I'll see how it goes, i could always add a few "surprises" for the next test.

At this phase it is merely an experiment how the AI will spend it. If it turns out to be a buzzer, i might script additional reinforcements instead.

It seems i will have to start this scenario from scratch, especially now that it is brought to my attention that the capturable Su122 might lead to a critical error in the panzer corps engine. At the beginning of this scenario i preplaced a few "repaired" russian units from the previous engagement including a couple of those Su122's. At this point i see no other choice than to replace them and restart the test.

In the past I put this unit only once and i believe it was in the Rostov mission. Fortunately one player came forward to report that his game kept on crashing. At least now we are certain what is the cause. In a future update the Su122 will be removed and replaced by something else. It is also possible that the new vanilla version will correct this error.

The to-do list for GTPG6Russians before release:

1) The final mission West-Germany
2) The Pzloc files
3) Mission briefings and debriefings for scenario's Berlin-East and West-Germany
4) Victory conditions and start-up test of the standalone versions

Feedback and suggestions = welcome!

I don't know how you can work with that music. :P
Do you have long hair, 4 tattoos in your body and wear black leather jackets with black Iron Maiden shirts underneath? 8)

GTPG6Russians final information

DLC 42 is available for purchase. I recommend you try it, it is a very intense episode in the DLC grand campaign.

Therefore i have decided to set the releasedate for GTPG6Russians for February, Sat 10th.
The scenario list is final, the prestige and difficulty per mission ofcourse not, that will depend on the feedbacks:
Retreat from Moscow, Operation:Red fury!, Operation: German fury!, Wacht am Rhein, Budapest, Berlin-East, West-Germany.
Those who really cannot wait so long, can send me a pm.

Probably i made Budapest too easy in comparison to the similar vanilla counterpart. I can always make it harder if 150 russian units for this scene is not enough
It has been the most difficult and timeconsuming pack to create. Overal, probably the most difficult as well. As usual, it has been fun and sweat at the same time.

The only thing i still need to do is finish the briefings and write the pzloc files...you know those windows that appear at the beginning of every turn, showing the victory conditions.

As usual, thanks for all the feedbacks and off-topic fun :).

Trouble With Karkov 43

I made it to the end of Kharkov 43. At the end of the scenario I get a DV and after the next scenario is introduced the game crashes. I have tried to uninstall the mod and reinstall it and rebooted my laptop, but nothing is working. I notice the something happened during the scenario 21 when a piece of captured mobile artillery appeared. When I tried to click on the artillery, the game would lock up. So I restarted the game several times, and the same thing happened. So I just stayed away from the captured artillery and could finish the scn and move on to Kharkov but then the next scn won't start. Any Ideas? I really really want to keep going.

Is the artillery switchable? (I guess you can't tell if you can't click on it!) If it is, it might be this issue: http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31751

Yes it's because of that, El_Condoro.

Niki will solve this in the next update, by removing that unit.
Sorry guys.

I'll post an update this evening and replace the Su122 by something else.

@VPaulus, @ El_Condoro: thanks for the assistance :)

Thanks

Thank you all for the work you have put in this game. You really have made, and I never thought I would say this, a game to replace PG. Some may take offense to that but come on, you know its true. :)
