Take two No. 2 pencils. Sharpen them to a very fine point.
Stab one in each eye.
Pollution problem gone.

They are as much of a problem as the perfectly square bases. That just cannot sit on the edge.

Or 5 or 6 pointed stars or octogons or hexagons or pentagons?
That's sort of my point. The foot print of the terrain pieces ought to reflect what's actually found in nature, not the above.
(And yes, cultivated fields are typically rectangles of some sort and that's perfectly fine.)

Ahh, this all reminds me of one clubmates 'solution' the the missive that appeared in the DBM rules at some point about flat rectangles of felt not being acceptable.....
He just trimmes a small corner off all his rectangles of felt so that while still flat and felt they were no longer rectangles

Yeah, I never quite understood that in those rules. I guess it was more a dig at craptastic terrain.
