Thanks. There will be a lull as most of my current games are in their early stages. Once those start wrapping up in 1-2 weeks, I should easily have a couple uploads a week after that.

Never mind I found it, 2560X1440. I'll make you a banner if you like. You can resize that pic for your avatar too if that's what you were originally talking about.

Avatar, I rather like the renaissance Gendarmes. 800X800, and it would need to look good as a circle basically. Thanks if you do, don't worry if you don't have time!

Just wanted to say I’m enjoying your videos and really enjoy the unit selection portion. Very helpful to a less experienced player.

Sadly my girlfriend isn’t as big a fan when I put it on the tv and drink beer.

Glad you're enjoying it; the rest of my League matches are on the way! I did get feedback that they were a bit quiet, so I have upped the volume - sadly, given the nature of PBEM, that will mean some 20 matches will have a volume jump part of the way through, but it was either that, ignoring the problem, or switching all my volume settings back and forth depending on which match I was on.

Now I feel bad for cutting the unit selection part in a few of them - but I figured people didn't want to watch me agonize over my choices for 20 minutes. In the videos that I cut that portion I do try to explain why I chose whatever I finally settled on.

Most of my current matches are in early maneuvering stages, but I do have at least two crushing defeats on the way! If anything, defeats are even more educational than victories.

For one, I did notice the volume being low so I put it on my TV, pissed off the gf and problem solved! Anyway, sounds like you already got the constructive feedback on that.

Seriously, don’t skimp on the unit selection part! It’s guys (and gals) like me - who are gunning for Div A even if it’s our first season - who are probably watching the most. And the guys who beat you, definitely them too.

Unit selection, as I’m sure you would tell me, is the most important turn. I feel I’m doing ok in my bottom divisions mostly because of that but I’d love to hear what someone like you thinks about when picking your army. If anything, add more detail here please.

You’re doing a great job and I don’t want to tell you how to do it but thanks for the help!

Agree with Zan to 100%!

I'm interested in hearing the reasoning on the unit selection, you setting up units on the map, and the tactics before as well as during the battle, proactive and reactive. So keep up the good work.

People can always skip or fast forward the parts of the video that they're not interested in. I sometimes look and listen at 1,5-2x speed for YouTube videos. :)

Thanks for the feedback. 13 of my league matches still haven't begun, so I will make sure to go through unit selection in detail for those matches; though I'll probably wait to start them until I've finished some of my current 20ish matches!

Maybe you could find a way to summarise your unit choice at the start of the video. The army composition is quite an interesting feature and would give useful insights.

There were only a few matches where I actually cut the unit selection part, so most of the league matches should include it. Sometimes I think pretty carefully about selection and deployment, sometimes I just act on instinct, and sometimes I just dump a line of units on the map and see what happens. Really just depends on the terrain and how predictable the enemy's army choice/deployment is going to be.

I've watch a few now and your videos are a great contribution to the community, Thanks.

I have most valued your discussion on the set up. For me the hardest part of the game, and where I think a good number of matches are won or lost, is the unit selection and placement of troops given the map, opposing army, and opposing filed commander. The skill that is brought to play in making these choices i call vision. It is where I have a lot of room for growth.

It has been refreshing to hear/see that I am not alone in assessing (agonizing over) this part of the game. If I do finally manage a win against you it will be because I will be able to quote (with slight modifications) George C. Scott when he played Patton in the movie of the same name: "SnuggleBunny! You magnificent furball, I saw your videos!"

Indeed, Ludendorf wrecked me with unit selection in our Classical match - I spent far too many points on expensive high quality Heavy Foot I think. In my last couple Biblical matches, I made the somewhat radical choice to eschew skirmishers almost entirely, in favor of pouring points into mobs of Light Spear/Swordsmen type infantry. It failed against Cunningcairn, who set up on a nice hill and on the low ground kept a strong crust of hoplites (the Hebrew army's bane) around his Massed Archers. It succeeded against dkalenda, if a game where I trail by 20 points for awhile and finally win a "glorious" victory with 55% of my army fleeing counts as success.
