A huge loss to the P&S Community.
Was his avatar, Odenathus, a different spelling of Septimius Odaenathus King Of Palmyra ?

Actually his username was Odenathus (a valid alternative spelling of the name of the Palmyran king) not Odenthus.

Yes I was wondering about that too RBS and thought that folk who had posted could edit their posts to get the spelling corrected out of respect to Odenathus.

Very sad news. I've downloaded and enjoyed many of his scenarios for both Pike and Shot and FOG2, they always cheered me up.

HI all,

I've only just seen this post. I played one or two P&S games with Mark but corresponded with him and played all manner of other wargames over about 15 years or so. He was a legend in Operational Art of War circles - the creator of Europe Aflame, which was a single scenario that had its own forum dedicated to it.

I live in New Zealand, and traveled to London twice over the years to see him. I can tell you he was a wonderful, generous and funny man to be around. My wife and I will remember those trips fondly forever.

I've been tremendously sad these last few months wondering what had happened to Mark. Thanks for letting us know Andrew.

Very sorry to read of this sad news.

Besides having all his scenarios, I wrote to him last year asking for permission to use his Mantinea terrain from FOG2 to do another battle. Mark was very kind and we wrote in two or more occasions.

My condolences, he will be missed.

I have been away from P&S for sometime so i missed the news about Odenthus. I never actually met him but we corresponded over our scenarios. He was a great innovater and gave me lots of help on my scenarios, colours, scripts, etc. very sad news.

Had a pint today to honour him and played his "Great Conspiracy " scenario for FOG2.

He maybe was the most innovative scenario designer for all of RBS"s games.

It kinda hurts to imagine all the things he would have created for FOG2M.

I agree with this opinion.
I converted Odenathus' Lake Peipus SP scenario for FoG2M https://disk.yandex.by/d/vN8Ih3Br-Ld3-g. Dedicated to the memory of Odenatus.
