Hahahahaha nope. Win 7 is new XP, leave Vista and XP but many people simply wont move to Win 10 Spyware. Im bit dissapointed about beta being Win 10 Only and hope it doesnt indicate trend, Since that would seem to indicate Slitherine and Matrix are going to Mainstream More than just in term of sales.

Since support for Win 7 ends, "many people" will just have to move. Running an unsupported system means you are not receiving security patches for newly discovered vulnerabilities, which makes your antiquated system a playground for malware, spambots and botnets.

Really hope the devs are successful in optimizing the game; I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The reqs is the least of my worries. I am still waiting for the next KING of fantasy strategy turned-based gaming.

I want to be an optimist too, but it does not look good right now, unless they put way more programming work and listen to the gamers feedback.
Why I say that?
Behind the pretty graphics, decent Battle game play, good interface, there are still a few important things missing from the game. The most important for me:

1 - Only 2 factions in the current game. Need to do way better than that.
2 - No diplomacy, No Allies option. By having only two factions it limits the variety of gameplay you can have especially in the skirmish mode (Skirmish have only a 3 sides max!)

I was hoping the game was going to meet at least the standards set of fantasy turned-based games such as AGE OF WONDERS SHADOW MAGIC, HOMM III GOLD, and WARLORDS III DARKLORDS RISING.
all of these games had up to 8 sides to choose, and good diplomacy and Allied choices in Random map generation.
I'll wait till the DLCs come out but I am not very impressed so far.

What platform would you consider "acceptable"? Windows is the main PC platform, and since the support for Windows 7 ends with the end of this year, the only supported Windows version from now on will be Windows 10. It's much better internally designed than Windows 7 anyway, more robust and able to face the current security threats.

You don't necessarily have to have a WIN 7 or WIN XP system and have to worry about "security" or "viruses". I have a top of a line WIN XP system (the year I bought it) and never use it to get on-line. I use it only to play older games that cannot be played on newer systems. I also have a WIN 7 laptop for the same reason.
For example, WARLORDS III DARKLORDS RISING is the main reason I still have it and play this game since 1998
I can assure you that this game still blows FG II at this stage out of the water although it is over 20 years old!
