2 more rounds
Is there enough time?
The anticipation is palpitating as i dod not see how you can take Lillehammer.
Well, what I (think I) learnt from these two recent AARs: "focus" is even more important on Manstein than on the other/lower difficulty levels... i.e. as Guderian once said: "Klotzen, nicht kleckern!"

Turn 11 – 29 April 1940
Weather: clear and dry
Denmark:
The Danish infantry unit is being replaced on a continuous basis but nothing else/more happens in Denmark (also no counterattack towards Kiel), so maybe we can just leave it as it is… in reality, the Danish government had capitulated in exchange for retaining (some) political independence in domestic matters. Maybe that’s how to look at it as part of this AAR…

Southern Norway:
The German recon unit finally saw some (real) action in Operation Weserübung by occupying Stavanger airfield. Maybe it can also still reach Kristiansand by sneaking through the Norwegian lines…

One down at Lillehammer…

Turn 12 – 1 May 1940
Weather: clear and dry
Southern Norway:
Kristiansand has been seized by the recon unit as well.

Finally, Lillehammer could be cleared and occupied by German forces (and thanks to the Luftwaffe). However, one Norwegian infantry unit is still remaining…

Central Norway:
The situation around Trondheim is under control. Although the British submarine does some target practice on the s-boat(s)…

Southern Norway (after AI turn 12):
Lillehammer is still under German control.

Casualties (after AI turn 12):
Again, probably someone out there can play it with less casualties and I am very happy to learn how…

great end
Luftwaffe saved you on this one
keep it up
I look forward to your continuance in France.
Hey one of the benefits of playing at Manstein level is to be awarded more heroes than on any other level as you are killing more units.Does this happen in BE? In other words can you be awarded random heroes for killing units like you do in the actual game?

Thanks a lot goose_2 for your support and encouragement, very much appreciated. You should try BE as well eventually! (if needed, maybe just get someone to help you install it)
France, well... yeah... France in BE at Manstein level sounds a bit like a catch-22, let's see maybe!
Regarding the heroes, in theory yes. However, you play these pre-scenarios (i.e. Poland, Norway, France and Med) almost only with auxiliary units and you don’t get enough kills for heroes on your up to five (5!) core units (by the way, this time I already lost a core tank in Poland as I was too cheap on replacements)...
So when I played the four pre-scenarios on General level for my first BE AAR (i.e. the long one this summer), I entered the final 99 turn Barbarossa scenario with three fighters and two tanks, each with (barely) two stars experience… so heroes work the same way although I don’t know the kill thresholds on BE. However, heores usually don’t decide your “fate nor your destiny”, that's at least how much I can say so far…

As always, here are also the two strategic maps (after AI turn 12 with fog of war off):
As you can see, I didn't manage to occupy Copenhagen and Namsos. Maybe Copenhagen could have been seized by the light tank unit or both places could have been seized by the small German Fallschirmjäger unit that seized Aalborg airfield in turn 1, in this case first Copenhagen and then Namsos... I think it is/was not impossible, it was just less critical for me...

This is the end (once again). Westfeldzug/Fall Gelb and Fall Rot (i.e. Battle of France) would be next but I doubt I can get very far there as Poland and Norway were a bit tricky already… well, let’s see!

That's what the France map looks like:
In case anyone wonders about the two victory objectives (Amsterdam and Abbeville), more victory objectives will appear all over France once you have reached the Channel coast through the Ardennes (i.e. following the Sichelschnittplan/Manstein Plan).

Also for the Norway scenario I just tried the reverse setup, i.e. the AI as Axis and me as Allies… only at General difficulty though...
So basically Denmark got overrun in the first turn (as expected). However, after that the AI is unable to use naval or air transports (as it is not scripted to do so). Therefore, the bulk of the Axis forces can’t cross the Skagerrak from Denmark to Norway (that’s also why I didn’t try it at Manstein level again). In addition, the initial Axis landing forces in Norway are too weak and can be defeated quickly (same with the majority of the Kriegsmarine)...
So this was over after around five turns (AI basically defeated) and it was also a bit lame/not really exciting enough for another AAR (IMHO)…
Please note: I had renamed the Norway pzscn and pzloc files to be able to load the scenario directly via the initial start screen (as usually the Norway scenario is only available after a DV in Poland as part of playing the Axis campaign).
