Hammy if you say there's good stuff in it, I believe you though, I'll give it a glance. But my natural bias is towards the Dark Ages.
I suppose everyone as their preferences. Frankly, I didn't think I'd enjoy my Medieval French half as much as do right now!
In essence, I think we're enjoying a good game here!
Yea, javelins, slingers, chariots... *yawn* But, if Hammy says to check it out, it will get a look. I dont care for later period armies, but I was almost considering picking up Storm of Arrows.
First, I finish the army I bought. THEN I consider getting new ones. Otherwise I end up with a situation like I have with my other games.. a half dozen unfinished armies sitting around and no motivation to get them done.

You may find the biblical lists enlightening then. There are several distinct styles of list, the armies are most definitley not all the same.
What is the interpretation going to be for Homeric Mycenean and Trojan?

isn't there some sort of Irish army in this book? Like from the Brian Boru era or something?

There are two, "Later Scots-Irish" and "Norse-Irish"

Norse-Irish?
I reiterate my original post. February seems so far off....
I need to learn more about Norse-Irish but my gut feeling says they sound like fun...

yeah, I don't really know what the Norse-Irish list will look like, but whatever it is, i'll build it. probably just a bunch of protected foot types.
Does anyone have a clearer idea on what norse irish would look like? based on DBM?

The big question with norse irish to my mind is are they impact foot or heavy weapon? or a bit of both. Apart from that I would've thought they would be lightly equipped (unprotected/protected) medium foot. I have been considering the possibility of running some as MF allies in a HF Viking army. My suspicions are not based so much on DBM as WRG and Warrior

The Irish troops will be mostly MF Unprotected Heavy Weapon (or optionally light spear, swordsmen) and LF Javelins, Light Spear.
A very interesting and cost-effective army IMO, and particularly within theme and in 28mm.

excellent, unprotected and heavy weapon, doesnt get much better value than that. They would heve to be worth a run.

For me it has to be those Knightly followers of Charlemagne or even better the Hautevilles. The imighty Robert "Guiscard" who had two Emperors running from him at the same time is one om favourite historical characters.

Any tidbits on the Viking list? Is it going to be playable, in other rulesets it didnt live up to my expectations, so here's hoping.

I'm looking forward to this book--I like the period. Can't wait to see the Viking, Rus, and Normans lists, among others

Sort of early English, with some High German attitude?
