Here in Germany we pay only 7 euros per person (so it should be 7 US dollars, sry, dont know the relation between Canadian dollar and euro). Unfortunately I have to go on a seminar next week. But when I am back, maybe you like to start a pbem.
Movies are about the equivalent of $10US, which isn't so bad, but if you want a cold drink and a box of popcorn, that is where they get you :x --- a medium drink (large enough to quench the thirst of a platoon of Fusiliers) and a medium popcorn works out to about $10 per person by the time you add HST (like VAT). So now we're up to $40, and haven't paid for the gas in the car, bus tokens, horse feed; whatever your mode of transport :)

As to a PBEM, sounds good. I will PM you with my email address.

Its the same here in the UK - it's around £8 for a movie now, with drinks and sweets for 2 you're usually over £30 ($60).

There you go! My wife wants to join me in retirement soon, so clearly I am doing her a favour by not taking her to movies, and spending my time on CNAW and CEAW instead :D --- just look at the money we're saving!

I wait to the DVD comes out. New Release DVD ~= $20 (US) + microwave popcorn (0.50) + 2 Beers ($2) => $22.50. Having a third beer if you want ... priceless!

OK. OK. I give in. Reactions have been pretty positive about this and, although I'm fairly certain this won't be an accurate representation of stategic and operational Napoleonic warfare, it seems like it has a pretty good feel about it from what I'm reading. It has also been accurately pointed out that we're not exactly blessed with a great many strategic Napoleonic games....So I'm going to buy this :)

Not just yet though. A patch has just come out that pretty much fixes 'STALKER clear sky' 'FIFA09' was released yesterday and, unfortunately, a few posts in a flight sim forum have gotten me in to 'World of Warcraft' What can I say, I've got a very wide range of PC game interests

But I promise I will buy this, probably in a few weeks time, and I'll let you know what I think. :P

Oh, and yes, the price of a visit to the cinema is extortionate. The tickets aren't bad value but the price of drinks and food is just daylight robbery.
