So Janissaries led by a commander can be pretty tough

True but to be honest LF support fire is very limited in effect even if superior.

I have found LF support to be of use but mainly to make BGs larger and to allow the first front rank base loss to have no significant effect on the fiighting power of the BG.

Agreed, the LF support is pretty marginal. I don't bother with it for Dailami for example.

I did say if . Although even against Hv arm knights you may get a couple of 6's inc rerolling 1 and 2 to get an impact win.
Havent been greatly attracted to the support fire legion concept before but I will give it a few trials for an open comp.

True but as you lose 1 dice per 2 from support shooting in order to get two hits you will need a minimum of three bases of LF. Normally the LF seem to be 1 extra dice needing a 5 or 6 against mounted. Not a huge advantage at impact but bu making a 4 base BG into a 6 you have a number of other benefits.
