No, I expect he is absolutely delighted with the prospect of being the Parthians. It is just a question of how many times he can get his horse archers to go round the battlefield in the inevitable encirclements that are to come.

Don't worry. I could chew up and spit out this motley opposition if my Parthians were armed with just dessert spoons. Bring it on.

The terrifying thing is that this is probably true.

The Parthians may be competitive against the Saka or Hsiung-nu.

Yes. You have a choice of Nabataea or Arab Tribes. See the map at the top of this topic.

Is Ian the resident Hannibal of FoG? Going to double check the player list and make sure I don't accidentally invade the wrong opponent

Sounds hopeful for my Saka until I reflected that this is like describing Hannibal as competitive against the Romans at Cannae.

How long would you say a campaign like this takes to finish?

There are six campaign turns. It will take a few days to get everyone's move in because it is done openly and sequentially. I am starting with 20 calendar days to complete the battles. My guess is that the campaign will take under six months, but it all depends on how quickly the round of battles is completed, which is something out of my control.

If you and iandavidsmith each pick an empire then we would have all 12 players and we can get started.

Maybe Ian and rex should have what's left but otherwise I can take Nabataea if that's ok.

Sure. You snooze, you lose.
There is one player position left. Once it is filled, we can start.

I've updated the campaign rules to allow a bye if we end up with an odd number of players. We'll start Wednesday night (EDT) at the latest even if we have an odd number of players. The Arabs have been a tough sell.
I thought that a point based system would provide balanced games, but apparently players still have reservations. I have a large DBM Pictish army, which is one of those affectionately called a "Wall of Crap" army, and I have won with them. A friend of mine has a WoC Libyan army (mostly light foot), that stretches from side to side (and then some) on an 8' table. Sometimes quantity has a quality all its own.

No problem. Have fun!
I find that even the movement sequence stage can be exciting. You know your sequence number, but will people moving before you take out those players who would normally move ahead of you? I've played in a 20+ player campaign and drew sequence tile 16. I thought that I had no chance to attack, but everyone with a better number was already committed to battle when it was my turn, so I was able to attack.
