Anyway, sign ups continue until when I wake up on Saturday morning, 6/03/17.
At that point I will email and private message all participants detailing who is participating and what next steps are going to be.

Starting June 6th, D-Day, I will again email, and private message them, and post on this forum Details around the Round 1 match ups.

Each player will be paired with another player, with similar experience, and similar area of the world. (To the best of my ability)
They will be playing a single match against a single opponent and will have approximately 2 weeks to get the match done and report back to me the results.
That means the commitment level is doable at 1 or 2 turns a day to get the scenario done in the time allotted.
The winners of Round 1 will go onto Round 2 and so on...
The losers will be congratulated for their time and interest, and asked to participate next year when we set this thing up again.

The Slitherine folks, and specifically AlbertoC, has given their full support, and have even promised a truly massive prize to the winner.
I know I got a nice prize last year for getting 2nd so I can only imagine what they have in store.

I used to think I was pretty good at this game - spending a few years kicking AI a** around the maps. In the last week, since signing up for this tournament, I have been playing PBEM for the first time and have had my eyes opened - so much to learn.

So if you're lurking and uncertain whether to sign up, don't worry you won't come last if I'm playing !!!!!

Quick Update:

As of this morning we are at 54 participants.
Cutoff is now being set up at 64, so I will accept the next 10 sign ups and than I will start compiling the list.

Time for those last minute sign ons to join.

Never done multiplayer before and expecting child number 2 around June 10, but it should be doable and fun

I recommend that you issue a few open games, no password, on multiplayer so that you get familiar with how it is done.

I hope all participants are taking these last few days to bone up on their MP skills. It will help a ton, even for experienced players.

I will be emailing and private messaging all confirmed participants a confirmation email on Sunday, June 4th.

I will include a list of all confirmed usernames that are participating, a few last minute instructions, and clean up stuff.

Then at 12:00 am CST, I will be posting the match ups for the 1st Round!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got to apologize for my last post. - Only got some PBEM experience wit Talonsoft's Campaign Series - played that 2001/2002. Back then we sent e-mails with attachments and posted our challenges in a forum.
Learned that...there was some progress in the last 15 years...and the game manages messages, turn exchanges, etc.

Now I've got two balanced multiplayer scenarios (Bzura and War Spoils) going on. I'm very pleased with the mechanics - and wonder if I'll do ok. Guess reconnaissance will become more important...

I have been anticipating this all weekend.  There have been just a few changes based on 3 people officially bowing out, and 3 people last minute standing in.

I am psyched about this going on without a hitch, so let me set the stage, because I am just that kind of guy. 

June 6th, 1944

Allies hear:
It is D-day men and now that we are on the beaches we need to press forward and seize the French countryside, as much as we can.  This will not be easy as we will all be earning our stripes against Germany's elite forces, but we will give them all we got.
Forward to Victory!

Axis hear:
The invasion has come to France, but our job is to hold them back at every point they try to cross.  This will not be easy as they will be using their combined forces to try and dislodge us to smash on through.
Hold the Line Men!  Hold the Line!

Your 1st Scenario will be Bocage Breakout!
The player on the left will issue the challenge and get to choose which side they want to play.
Please put the other player's user name in the description and make the password be:
tournament
This will be a single game, so choose whether or not you want to be Axis or Allies.
For this Round we will play with no restrictions, that means undo is on, weather is on, fog of war is on, supply is on, and you can see the player's movement.
(This will not always be the case but for the First Round that is how it is to be played.)


You have until Midnight CST June 17th to report back to me the results, either by posting them on the forum, emailing them to me, or private messaging me.

I wake up today to see the MP section of the game filled with challenges, this is normal, but all the new ones now say Bocage Breakout!

In the description I have to type not my user name only my opponent's user name, i.e. "Brattslapper"?
Did I understand correctly?
I want to make sure, because all the players have entered their own user name.

Goose, you have to deal with people from all over the world, whose English is at different levels, so please write very precisely.
