We don't take the same terrain as the first game ?
It was a general challenge and someone took it up but I'll post some more.TheGrumpyDoge wrote:Hi cromlechi, you may not have had my correct name... all one word TheGrumpyDogecromlechi wrote:Box 2 challenge posted, password cromlechiunless I am looking in the wrong place. Am a tourney virgin on here
snugglebunny, sent you a challenge pw peoww
TGM is correct terrain remains set at Pot LuckTheGrayMouser wrote:LFDLM wrote:"Second Games of each Mirror match will be Large Armies, Wide Map, Terrain Type - Pot Luck, Army List - The exact opposite of what you just played in your first game so you will need to pick it from the pick list to get the proper armies then players MUST change the force purchase tab from default to "auto" this is to ensure fairness in this game , Scenario type Open Battle unless mutually agreed, either player may issue the challenge."

My understanding is no. In many cases it would be a very subjective opinion what terrain the "potluck" chose anyhow. (unless its displayed by the program somewhere??) Anyway, don't listen to me for I just might be biased knowing what will happen to my Jacobites when the Poles come for em in the open!
OK, but, for example, I fight against a cav army with a medium foot army in open terrain and with a cav army against a medium foot army in moutains this isn't "to ensure the fainess in this game"rexhurley wrote:TGM is correct terrain remains set at Pot LuckTheGrayMouser wrote:LFDLM wrote:"Second Games of each Mirror match will be Large Armies, Wide Map, Terrain Type - Pot Luck, Army List - The exact opposite of what you just played in your first game so you will need to pick it from the pick list to get the proper armies then players MUST change the force purchase tab from default to "auto" this is to ensure fairness in this game , Scenario type Open Battle unless mutually agreed, either player may issue the challenge."

If the auto army option chooses compulsory troops and random mix of discretionary troops then if wouldn't be the same mix of troops as the previous game anyway will it? Hence, will it matter if the terrain is not the same?TheGrayMouser wrote:

Some armies have a limited choice of troops. Polish against Jacobites means cavalry against medium foot.GDod wrote:If the auto army option chooses compulsory troops and random mix of discretionary troops then if wouldn't be the same mix of troops as the previous game anyway will it? I feel your consternation. On another field Warlord is herding my Jacobites like sheep across open fields. I've ended up on his deployment edge, whats left, surrounded and cowering in a forest. Dark days, indeed for the Jacobites. And I'd hate to think I'd have to turn around and fight his Jacobites in mountains in the next game! Hopefully this is an aberration and not the norm! For you, I hope the boot is on the other foot in the following mirrored gameLFDLM wrote:Some armies have a limited choice of troops. Of course, it does not change the outcome of the game (the best player wins, whatever the army and... TheGrayMouser is the best of the both games), but it is not pleasant to fight twice in bad condition (in agricultural with medium foot and in mountain with cavalry).

Apologies GrayMouser lost the plot and mixed the quotes up. I think we can learn a lot for the future from hopeless situations. That's my position every game regardless of armies or terrainTheGrayMouser wrote:GDod wrote:If the auto army option chooses compulsory troops and random mix of discretionary troops then if wouldn't be the same mix of troops as the previous game anyway will it? That's not my quote but I get what LFDLM is saying... really no answer for this kind of thing, but if its not pot luck, then someone (Rex haha) gets the dubious task of arranging matches for alleged "balanced armies" and thus many wont be used at all. Its too bad potluck doesn't tell you what kind of terrain it used so that its can be chosen in the reciprocal match... However that no certainty of parity between the matches, I have selected mountain maps vs the AI and had a single hill in the far bottom corner of the map , and the rest was clear!
I personally like the variety and the more players per pod or box, then odd results SHOULD get averaged out.
You just did, the wee blarnies will be weepin tonite for sureLFDLM wrote:I will avenge myself, TheGrayMouser, one day, I will avenge myself...
