Unfortunately I do not have an army that can do that in 15mm. The army I planned to use does have 4 x BGs of poor troops.

I was hoping to give you practice with the army you are going to use over the weekend.

No problem, I'll play against what ever turns up. After all it's an open comp. this year with a range of 700bc (immortal fire) to 1500ad (storm of arrows)

Poor LF javelin men at 2pts each are the super weapon of FOG, I always buy them if available.

I usually play HF armies and a screen of poor javmen are just as effective as average or superior lights for stopping the heavies getting hit.

The javelin is better than other missile weapons for poor quality lights as the +POA means it can take on other lights with equal or better odds of winning. Also my lights never hit a thing so the shorter range isn’t any sort of handicap.

My best outing with poor javelin men was when they destroying 2 BG of syth chariots.

You are a braver man than I. I would not want more Poor guys shot at or hit. Even the + POA on impact isn't enough as they should grind you down in melee.

I like them to bolster the army then mostly cower with them or as you say fall back to slow the crunch.

Would you base them in 4's or 6's?

Most lists only allow BGs of 6 or 8 poor javelinmen although some allies and the odd BG can have 4s. I tend to use them in 8s to make them less vulnerable to shooting. BGs of 6 autobreak with 2 losses so all it takes is an unlikely death roll against some shooting and the BG will spend the rest of the game running for cover or praying. BGs of 4 suffer the same problem but at least you are bumping up the number of BGs in the army.

The trick with poor javelinmen is never to take any risks and keep them out of trouble. They aren't going to win you the battle but they certainly can lose it for you. Having said that, being so crap it's surprising how often your opponent ignores them completely which allows you to sneak in on a flank and take a pot shot or even go for the baggage.

Trying 4 poor Bg's tomorrow in an Abbasid army from the beta lists.

Am I right in assuming that Mob can support troops of the same quality as them ?

Yes, they are effectively MF so can support troops of the same quality.

Have Anybody had success with poor Mv (ex Indian bow). It seem like poor Mv/Hv will always lose. I tested poor pikes and what really nails them is the moral tests. The lists are full of poor Mv troops, does anyone use them?

There was a thread in the forum about someone using successfully a BG of 12 poor pike w/ a general. Some were saying these were supertroops too...

It is soul destroying to roll 3 6s with Mob in combat, only to have the re-rolls fail to score hits, and then you lose :(
