When you add in the gradual release of list books the target is constantly moving.
When all the books are released and we have had a year or so to digest there might be a few trends starting to appear

Seljuks look pretty good though!
Any chance I could use my Ottomans from the beta list Hammy?

Sorry, published lists only, it means we have a level playing field.

I thought that would probably be the case - but always worth asking!

I think the "three flavours of byzantine" was the most interesting option - which book is that in?
Seriously though, such challenging thinking is simply a result of the game system having no super armies and all armies having a chance if well led. So your army choice should not really prove a big + or - overall in a 6 round comp with alrge numbers of players. Course if you can spot this months fashion it may be.
So my recommendation is...
Pick an army that will make you feel happy to get it out of the box. I have recently been choosing my terrain on the basis of the nicest looking pieces and it has worked pretty well.
Spend the time saved thinking about the design, deployment and overall winning strategies against various opponents instead!
Not that I want to spoil the fun of such lively debate of course ...

Well is seems British reserve is such that there are significantly more lists submitted by non British players than by Brits at the moment.
OK the fact that no British players have sent a list yet may have something to do with it but.....
Come on guys, make your minds up

He's hoping to get lists so he can spend time list checking instead of looking for a job as he should be

You're taking this way too seriously David!
I've submitted my list and it's first run out will be on Friday at Britcon - hopefully it won't be too painful an experience for me!

Ah, so not the Latin Greek with half the army in a single allied contingent then?

Its not a case of taking things serious, you know I never do that,I need to find something I am happy with when my dice are rolling 2's and 3's,I say that because if it was 1's at least some of the troops would be able to reroll

Once bitten twice shy!! And it seemed such a good idea at the time.
Having said that - it did improve with use - just a shame it's first outing was against the FoG World Champ!!

If it could have 2 Seljuq contingents it'd be better IMO - each could be a ghilman BG + 2 LH BGs all under an allied TC.

Try Late Republican Roman with 18 elite legionaries with attached TCs. Should do the job if anyone is brave enough to take them on frontally although in my experience they tend to create a big hole in the enemy's deployment area facing them right from the start.

Unfortunately one of those that I'm just not happy with,I'm leaning towards Big Al or Early Successor at the moment ,he only really let me down in Helsinki with a couple of bad dice against Nik and then against Hammy so he deserves anouther chance,on the other hand Antigonas with a Galation ally is quite tempting

Well, it's Early Picts for me, probably going to be one of the least popular armies at BritCon this year, but I have had them re-based and they look great, thanks to HHH for a job well done. Who needs armour.

well I think I have decided
Its going to be something Iberian, but SHNC, Aragon (mmmm almughavers), ancient (mmm Suetonious), is another matter.
Now all I need to do is write a list and start painting.
I knew this was going to happen
