Thanks. I'll try that.
The para's have a landing problem on mine pc. the stay above the ground.
Me too. I believe that "magenta square" unit is paratroops. And yes, they are floating, are not grounded.
This mod looks great but incorporated with the main game is better.
Agreed. The devs could do an even better job of integrating things. But with a few fixes, this is good enough for now.

Before getting the F9 tip, I had exited the game, attempting to restart in windowed mode.

...

I am now in windowed mode, and ... ugh. I have a dual monitor display, with my right monitor at lower res than my main left monitor. The game window slops over to the right monitor, and the normal Windows controls are unavailable to fix things. For example, the maximize control is grayed out.

I switch back to playing full-screen mode, I guess.

This is not a mod issue, obviously. Just noting this here.

Thank you very much for this awesome counter mod. It really looks great! My only gripe is not so much with the mod but with the facing options in the game. As the facing does not have any gameplay relevance I would prefer all the counters to be facing 12 o'clock. Although an option to turn counters by 90 degrees when they have moved or fought would be nice as well. But I guess this would have to be done by the developers.

For playing on a windowed mode it is important to select the right resolution on the settings. The maximize aren't working.

Hm, maybe maitrebongo is working with the devs now to bring us an official counter display option. His mod is great so it would make sense to incorporate it properly.

My thoughts exactly, why re-invent the wheel?
It would allow the devs to concentrate on other stuff like skirmish mode.

In earlier dev mockups, they have counters where, like real-life counters, they have the "ink" worn off (as would happen with repeated play over time). Kind of cheesy. Looks kind of dumb if applied across the board, in the same way, with every counter.

I like the clean, crisp, no-cheese look of this mod's counters. Although I might prefer more consistent treatment. For example, the crossed-rifles (?) 'X' NATO icon is used for infantry, while silhouetted tank images are used for armor, instead of the standard tank-tread NATO icon. I would prefer standard NATO icons applied everywhere. Or unit silhouettes applied everywhere. But not either/or simultaneously. Perhaps offer both uniform styles, and make it a toggled option?

Also, for standard NATO icons, please take the trouble to use as many of the specialized variants as possible. Dont' just use the infantry 'X', armour '0', artillery '.' triad. It's cool to see the specialized variants also (like for marines, engineers, machine gunners, etc.).

Changing the 2d board is relative easy, only update the .png within the "Order of Battle - Pacific_Data\Content\Graphics\StratMap" folder.

For example change the tiles to a less plastic one.

And using "Generic Mod Enabler" this can easily done.

For a explanation take a look on the matrix forum.

Because,

This Mod is not ended ; there are adjustments to be made but especially, it will be complete only when I can add it a personalized ground map, and it is not made possible by the engine of the game yet (although I was able to demonstrate that this engine could support it…).

Generally speaking, this game is not so modder's friendly which it seemed at first sight.

We can change many thing and adapt them at our convenience, but it would seem that it is not wished that we go too far to these modifications and I'm fed up to have to make sort of retro-engineering with the code of the program to find tricks to by-pass this inertia.

Modding is a symbiotic relation between motivated voluntary amateurs and team of development that has to earn money with their game.
If this collaboration does not work on a report of mutual confidence, then mods will eventually become increasingly scarce and this game will eventually fall in limbo of the stock of Slitherine/Matrixgames (like so many before it...).

I play wargames on PC for more than 25 years and I own almost 500 computer wargames (that I all kept religiously). I have modding for my personal comfort a good many of between them and I think of having acquired a certain experience which allows me to know if a wargame will have or not a certain longevity in the community of the players.

If you look in time, you will see that the wargames which lasted longer or those who were most improved is the ones whose source code more or less fell in the public domain (Steel Panthers, Close combat, Panzer General...) what allowed the modders to express himself without constraints and in all the directions.

As I said it, I am an old player and I have a lot of patience… Thus I would wait that OOB evolves in this direction to resume the modding on this game. It will be certainly the case in a few years.
After all, the essence of a wargame is 2D graphics (even if here they are 3D) and this kind of graphics is not also subject to the obsolescence as those of the fashionable games of whom we shall not remember ourselves any more before one year or two.

Will these work if both players are in multiplayer and using your counters? It appears not to work if only one is using it.
