No you can take your coat off and get comfy again. If we regard the Boyne as the end point for James then 1690 it is. I'd put that on the website anyway so now all of the info is consistent

Hi Dene , plenty of space for more participants - we think we could take about 24 (slightly more if we hire some extra tables) and currently have 16 entrants.

Hi Tom, contact noted. We have a slight fly in the ointment at the moment as far as the venue is concerned (apparently a host of `rules') we have only just been made aware of. Trying to sort this out at the moment and will update everyone as soon as we `know' everything is OK.

Hope you can sort it out; I am planning to see how quickly everyone else can beat a Savoyard force. Or maybe I shall be boring and bring along Swedish?

T - If you want, I'll race you with an even weaker version of the Bavarians who came last at Usk in January (including the three lowest scores - 0, 1 and 2* - recorded by any competitor in any of the four events being run that weekend).
[* we actually won the other game 21-3 - however, it was against Nigel with an all-cavalry army and a partner who'd never even watched a FoG:R game before ]

I'm currently waiting for the social club to come back to me with a yes/no and cost. I gather that their next committee meeting is the first week of July and we should have an answer then. If the cost is ludicrous (or indeed the answer is no) then we'll have to reconsider so it is a matter of watch this space at the moment. We are needless to say keenly interested as if we can get a `yes' and a sensible price there would be the option of regular day events at the club.

Good luck. It would be a shame not to have a London round.

All, the good news is that we have an early decision. The bad news is that the option of running it at Ilford this year is off.
To explain. Our venue Redbridge Social Club (RSC) does have a suitable hall, hireable at a (just) viable price. However RSC club rules are very set in that members / member groups have to be in good standing for 2 years before they can apply for hire in the way we would need for a one day event.
It has been explained to us that this is to prevent individuals joining for the sole purpose of a one off event (e.g. a wedding receptions or party, wrecking the place & then never being seen again). The club apparently frequently gets applications of this type.
IWG as a group joined in August last year so we are not yet able to hire the hall for a full day. So our first realistic time for a full day would be sometime in late summer / early autumn of 2017. We had not researched the club rules sufficiently at the time we announced the event, so I'm holding my hands up to say `my fault'. I apologise personally to anyone who might have arranged accommodation.

We will be open in any case on that day as usual (13.30 to 18.30 ish) should anyone wish to come along for a more casual game.
Please pass this message on to anyone who you know who is planning to come to this event.
Regards
Paul K

Any chance of taking up Will's offer, above? His school is a fantastic venue.

I can confirm that I have not yet re-set the date in my diary so could participate and probably drag along a couple of our chaps. I'd also be happy to act as list checker etc. I think Will might be on his hols that weekend though.
