Just checking the MKWS website do we have definitive periods / army lists yet (acknowledging that one of the subsets will be 25mm)?

There will be a Forlorn Hope team again to charge the breach in everyone's defences and win victory.

I see that the FOG AM players are voting on the themes for Campaign. When will we see the options for FOG R.

As a club member since 1999, you must remember that MKWS run surely on one-man-one-vote, this year Don is the man, he gets the vote!

Hi Guys,

1st stab at the themes for Campaign. As ever, I have tried to keep the themes tight in each period. The period I would liked to have added would have been a Central/South America but I'm not sure on the appetite and availability of armies for such a period.

The usual current restrictions on Artillery (1 gun per 6 bases; no fire into flank on deployment) and superior/average (No more superior bases than average/poor for both Foot and Horse BG's) will apply.

Period 1:25mm - The English English Civil War (1641-1646) : - Early ECW Royalist, ECW Parliamentarian, Later ECW Royalist, New Model Army.
• 40mm MUs for Movement, Command Distances and Shooting,
• 1 inch MUs for Terrain, Deployment and Threatened Flank Sectors

Period 2: 15mm - Armies, Allies and enemies of France 1485-1529 – Maximillian Imperial, Trastamara Spanish, Italian States, Italian Wars Venetian, Italian Wars French, Early Henrician English, Scottish, Swiss.

Period 3: 15mm – Elephant Curry : Armies of South East Asia 1500 – 1644: - Muslim Indian, Hindu Indian, Rajputs, Indonesian or Malaccan; Thai, Burmese and Khmer; Vietnamese; Mughal. (i) All lists must feature at least 1BG of Elephants (ii) European Allies allowed – no more than 4 BG’s

Feedbaclk/suggestions and amendments?

Don

Period 1: The dates look a bit off for the English Civil War.

Period 2: There is no French army.

Period 3: Extra spicy with a Garlic and Coriander Naan please!

Sounds great! Up for any or all of those.
1) Dates for ecw need a jig, but sounds fun!
2) Think the lack of French in a French themed competition is brilliant and should be encouraged! :D
3) Oh no, not trunkies again!!! Can't we have The Halls of Montezuma and an Aztec theme? ;)

We had period 3 last year. Happy to have a refight but it is likely everyone will take Indonesian or Malaccan.

So just remove them from the permitted armies list 8)

It would not be the wars of the elephants if you removed them.

Also Ray would be unhappy. He wants to reclaim his crown as Sultan!!!!

So simply rename the period `Sultanates of India' and drop the Indonesians :-). There are anyway 9 lists there which is unusually generous for the MKWS comp :-)

Are we any closer to finalising the three pools?

Also how much do we have to send to Neil for our entry?

Hi Bob,

The entry fee for this event is £20 per player (£60 per team of 3) - the same as 2015!

Entries for the FOG R competition at Campaign 2016 including a cheque made out to MKWS (by 25 April 2015) are to go to

Neil Sutherland
7 Horton Gate
Giffard Park
Milton Keynes
Bucks
MK14 5JQ

Neil's email address is chairman@mkws.org.uk

Please specify what period each player is entering. Can you also let me know who is entering - don.avis@ntlworld.com

As regards the themes, I'm relatively happy with Periods 1 & 2 but not having played last year, I didn't realise that an elephant theme had already been played. Personally I would loved to have done a Central/South American theme but I doubt there are enough Armies out there to manage this.

Therefore we have 2 choices (unless there is a big voice for Aztecs and Inca's):-
  • 1. Stick as is with the difference against last year being the restrictions on Guns and Superiors
    2. Reduce the period to the struggle for India 1500 - 1625 (avoids the non nellied Maharatha's and the Portuguese Muskets) keeping the Hindu's (except Sinhalese), Muslim, Mughals but adding in the Colonial Portuguese with compulsory Hindu Allies (3 BG's minimum)- still gives us nellies but does away with the Malay's
Thoughts quickly please!

Despite not having the lists with me I would like to try option 2 but I suspect it might be a lot of civil wars.
