With the holidays looming this is going to be difficult for me (I work in the tourist industry), so sorry, I'll have to give it a pass.

BTW, hopefully, now that the game has been released in the US, we'll be soon seeing some new people joining the forum and mulitiplayer.

Sorry to hear you will not be able to participate in this Cup, Lava. Anyway I'm sure we will have many others and I am looking forward to see who can claim the bottom rung in the Ladder.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 8)

Oh, and Ehre...

The French have won wars. Well, the Gauls did. Does that count?[/quote]

Folks, we've done some testing, and Format B needs a bit of tweaking before we begin the tourney. The Celts always win in Format B, which is a sad indicator of just how imbalanced MP is.

Give us like 24 hours to get this fine-tuned, and then we'll get going here :)

Oh, and Ehre? Slamming the french isn't very nice. The USA would never have won its independence without french help.

Furthermore, you're introuducing politics, which is the death of all comfortable conversation :)

French came in late for that war(Rule #1, French win when America does most of the fighting) but Im gonna take that off my signature, gotten too many negative comments bout it.

Merry Xmas and a Happy new year!

A bit early? But it's nice to say around greetings anytime, anywhere on the net.

So what is the progress of the match? Where will the Claudisous Cup travel to?
And I want to read everybody's AAR(after action reports), great pictures, and share some lessons learned.

Progress is, we are doing final tweaking before the start :)

Oh, thanks, I overheated again.

Hmm, seems war elephants are in the middle of battle line to compensate for their slow feet?
Or need to hide them from enemy archers and javelin throwers not to be demoralized before they contact?
Seems many tactical decisions needed.

OK, here we go!

Right, formats edited.

Only Format B has actually been changed, requiring an army re-design.

But in both Formats B and C, the Celts have been moved to the attacker position, thus shifting a small advantage to the beleaguered Roman side.

With no further ado, the schedule -

Round One

Possum plays Okio
Ehre plays JDM
Sum1won is bye player

Round Two

Sum1won plays Possum
Okio plays Ehre
JDM is bye player

Round Three

Possum plays JDM
Okio plays Sum1won
Ehre is bye player

Round Four

Possum plays Ehre
JDM plays Sum1won
Okio is bye player

Round Five

Okio plays JDM
Ehre plays Sum1won
Possum is bye player

I know it's Christmas. Let's plan on Round One taking 3 or 4 days.

Please do not play any Round Two games until it has been announced that Round One is over :)

Now, the next step is for Sum1won, as the Round One bye player, to select the Format. As soon as he has done that, play can begin.

Hopefully, everyone has Xfire, since it can be installed right off the game menu.

Private Messages here at the Slitherine forums are also a good way to communicate :)

LOL, I think we're all caught up in family stuff atm; it is Christmas, after all :)

We can't start play until Sum1won decides the format for Round One anyhow...and he's probably busy with family stuff :)

Format A and C, in that order. First player is the attacker.

If I cant do that, make it both format C.

LOL, no, bud, we just stick with one format per round. That way it's symmetrical, so if there is any imbalance, it evens out. Both players will get to play both sides in the same format.

Format C it is for Round One.

Oh, yes, and only 3-game matches, please :)

This is going to be INTERESTING.

Sum1won, you should definitely be working on your idea for that Skirmisher Cup you mentioned a while back, so you can roll that out pretty much as soon as the Claudius Cup is over.

PHALANX cup. Skirmisher cup would take an eternity. Years and years. I shudder at the idea- skirmishers would have massive numbers of units causing like 0 casualties.

A phalanx cup would be based around spearmen.

Alright, lads, the holidays are behind us now. Let's get rolling on this, please.

I am still trying to get in touch with Okio.

JDM and Ehre need to get their duel done.

Let's not let this idea wither and die for lack of motivation, eh?
