How would I see the main menu if the game doesn't launch? Or rather, version type.

The retail version is different.
However we cannot guarantee that you experience a similar issue.

Is this the first time you are trying to install the game on that system?

No, I've installed it before but there was other issues which I fixed, this seems to be a recent thing in general when playing older games, such as Cossacks, Fate of the Dragon, and Spartan.
If the download has been made compatible I'd get it.

You should also try a search as this isnt a problem with their game but your system and OLD games. There is a lot on the net about these issues and I am sure you will find a fix. Type something in the search like this. "Old games windows 7 administrator problem" I looked and seen a lot of threads but I am not going to go through each one when you can do a simple search also. :-) I hope you fix your problem, but if its more than one game you need to do a internet search as you cannot be the only one.

I just wanted to know if you had that kind of software installed, because that could cause a conflict with the game.

Could you please attach a DxDiag report file to your message?

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message

Those graphic drivers are from Microsoft and not from Nvidia and they are quite old.

Hi I'm a newbie here!
I have a problem with a CD version of Spartan.
I have a 32-bit Windows 7, and i downloaded the dll file. The game is running without issues, except one thing.
The game often crashes when start a battle! :cry:
I would be grateful if you could help me, because this game was my first favourite game, and i would like to feel again
this game's atmosphere.

without a known problem or report, i'd just be guessing for a cause of the random crash tbh

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8 )
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments (zip) rather than pasted into the body of the post.

add the exe of the game to your Anti Virus and firewall program, to make sure check the logs of these to see if it was one if any of them was to blame.

That usually means a 3rd party program, like an Internet security programs, is or could be interfering with the game or update installation.

run the game from a admin account and use full admin permissions.

please make sure all game pre requisite are installed with the game, even if you think or fully know there are already installed, it will only over write, and it may be that you have a older or newer version of these where as the game in question may need a certain version.

please make sure you are running the latest game version and have up to date drivers installed on your pc,

If you have the original version. So you'll need to update it from the Internet.
Please note that you'll only need the last update, as the updates are comprehensive. (not needed with steam)
