Sounds good. Battle variety was only thing that I worried about. Using existing army lists and their dates is certainly the simplest way to add modernization. Though while ECW army lists change every couple of years, Thirty Years War army lists change less often (Sweden has currently one list for 1635-1648 ). But I guess TYW campaign is well tested too. 6-8 battles seems perfect length for a campaign.
Auto-resolve based on past performance is certainly an interesting idea. Total War series should have a look. Existing game has great design and I'm pretty confident about Campaigns too!

Question for RBS
Saw a screen shot of the upcoming expansion featuring what appears to be a earlier Polish army with "Lancer Banners" 50% x-bow and 50% Heavy Lance.
Curious, do these guys only get the % POA at impact for the 50% Heavy Lance?
Quite excited about all the new earlier lists rounding out the game!

No, they get 100% Lancer POA at impact as the crossbowmen are assumed to be in the rear ranks. They are from the 1494 - 1524 Polish list. There are also "Volley Banners" which are classified as 100% Crossbow, Swordsmen. (In reality there were a few lancers in the Volley Banners, but not enough to merit Lancers capability).
There are also somewhat later Lancer Banners in the 1525 - 1558 Polish list. They have less armour, but have 50% Bow instead of 50% Crossbow. The Volley Banners in this period are classified as 100% Bow, Swordsmen.

Thanks! The army sounds similar to the FOG list in Eternal Empire , one of my favorite modules for FOG.
Apart from some stuff from Gush, its sure is difficult to get any info on early 16th century armies.

Which campaign are people planning to try first? I'm torn between Gustavus Adolphus and Ottoman campaigns. Gustavus Adolphus due to his fame as a general and Ottomans due to their different playstyle (no pikes).

The Campaign addition sounds great. Are Ireland and Irish armies included in the ECW campaign? How about the Irish/Elizabethan war?

There are currently no Irish armies in the game, but there will be Jacobite Irish (and Scottish) armies in the next (free) update.
Of course, later Royalist armies contained many units from Ireland.

Hi Everybody,
I'm really looking forward to this....
Does the 'Pike an Shot' campaign generate different maps or is it the same set of areas each time?
Thanks!

The province shapes and boundaries remain the same, but the province terrain is randomly generated for each campaign, making each campaign strategically different. The province names change depending on the nations involved.
Obviously it wasn't feasible to use real geography for the generic campaign, because of the massive range of possible what-if army and geographical combinations the campaign setup allows - including nations that were not historically geographically adjacent.

I think each province at least has a consistent terrain type.

No, in the generic campaign the province terrain-types are (randomly) assigned differently for each campaign.
Obviously, in the historical campaigns the province terrain reflects the historical geography, so is the same each time.

Yeah that's what I was driving at.

Thanks sounds great!.... the ability to use 'any' nation without geographical limitations, IMHO, awesome ....

I'm excited but concerned there is no information, just a few days away, on how much this will cost for those of us who have the original game (or how much it will cost period) or how we get an upgrade from the original game to this new version (especially on Steam).

Downloading now. Excited to give the campaigns a spin. Must try to convince a few of my friends who like turn based strategy games to give Pike and Shot a go too.

Wow, a campaign system done right. Even non-grognards should be interested in this new package.

Really well done, thanks; and i found an interesting option : choosing player purchase for pike and shot campaign will allow player to raise armies where he wants, so a player can portrait even a campaign where his armies are far away from the enemy or really close.
Guys, a wonderful work!!!
