Perhaps Slitherine can outsource to 3rd party developers the various fronts & eras like what was done with P&S. This way we can buy the eras/fronts that interest us. Hopefully there will be enough interest that allows the developers to make money.

Sounds good. Don't forget the modders also, who are very active with this engine. If they come out with a modern era game with helicopters, missiles, jets, then the modders can take it anywhere.

Sorry for the confusion here. Is Slitherine continue to develop the engine or will that be offloaded to someone like the modders?

Thanks,

Gerry

Gerry,
Check out the link from the first post in this thread. Basically it says that the in-house team that developed BA is being re-tasked. Sounds like they will continue support, and as you suggest, continue to publish additional content developed by other groups.
Judging by all the additional content sold for the first game, BA2 probably has plenty of content coming, plus mods. Also Hell and Pike &Shot based on the engine as well. I am hoping that the engine will keep improving and growing, and move into many different eras. I think the brilliant naval mod shows how much can be done with this system.
Besides wanting a modern era game, cold warish, I would love to see Vietnam. Especially with the ships launching carrier based airstrikes, and helicopters flying in troops for tense jungle battles. OK, I'll calm down now, but I hope Mr Aramis is listening, as he is a genius with making units for the BA engine...

Thanks.

I was just hoping they would give it to someone who would fix the hill LOS problems that were well documented with images.

100% agree. I have spent more money and time with BA than with any other iPad game. By far. I dont undersatnd why they will stop making new scenarios, or a future BA 3.

Same answer, I think the series will continue will another developer making content, and Slitherine doing the distribution. Win-win I hope.

Just saw in the Pike & Shot thread that Apple is no longer accepting patches for 32-bit games of which P&S is one. Is BA2 also a 32-bit game? What's the implication for BA2's future development if it is a 32-bit game? Hope we can get some comments from the devs on this as I do have Slitherine apps on my iPad.

Unfortunately at the moment the engine is 32 bit so it does mean we are prohibited from releasing updates on iPad going forwards. Sorry I don't have better news.

This does not affect our ability to update other platforms if needed.

If the engine gets updated to 64 bit we'd then be able to support iPad again but this is a very large task and not one we are currently working on.

Wow, that really SUCKS. I understand where you're coming from Ian, if it were my business I'd make the same choice ... as an iPad owner and total BA devotee, I'm gutted!! :-(

Will this affect the Ipad platform for future DLC scenarios? Having this game from the beginning on Ipad and then getting cut off half way through the DLC will irk me something bad.

I'm concerned when iOS goes to v9.0 later this year. Will BA & BA2 run on that version? I'm invested in both apps. :(

Have the devs tried these apps on the public beta of iOS9?

A thing I learned many years ago: when your business is software, you need to constantly upgrade your soft to the new OS, hardware, etc, or you are dead.

Well said enric, but as the title of this thread states, they are already done producing BA games and content. Anything new they are producing will have to be 64 bit.

The BA games in general look like what I want to play the most. I hope they continue.

I guess this is a good reason for me to look at getting a Surface Pro 4 (Windows 10) rather than iPad Pro!

Hello best75,

Unfortunately not. The engine is 32-bit, and any new content into Apple - be it a patch, DLC or a new game - needs to be 64-bit, so unfortunately that means that the current BA2 game cannot have further iPad content.
