Another extension of the game could be the war pre US involvement. Would love to see the colonial French army, legion, and the WWII era Corsairs (or were they Hellfighters) or Avengers the French used.

Vietnam65 wrote: with the Vietnam War, it must be remembered that the SV government was pretty brutal and corrupt, how do you porter this in a game?
In my original design, I had torture as an infantry tactic in the villages to get Intel, also has propoganda and bribery to influence PP, took them out as maybe too controversial?
I personally would like to include such elements as they are representative of the times, but could create more controversy and damage the game itself.
I don't think it would damage the game, it's that it goes against US propaganda, against what the common customer wants to ear.
Even you, you don't know how to porter the corruption in game, for you didn't really want to... I believe you are smart and creative enough, but it should go against what you worked for before (if I understood correctly): you won't present the US as the invader, helping the corrupt SV government against its people fighting for their freedom, very poor desperate SV people fighting against their own army, US army, and even sometimes Commie army (or rather Commies made usual mass purges).

At first I was shocked by your game: I believed, seeing the trailer: "What's this shit of a reaganian game?!?"
But I learnt your game is excellent, so I don't care so. I know it's a game.

As a mockery, troll almost serious:

Translation:
I wonder if we can mod Veteran '65, in France '44, for example,
where we play the valiant German, allied to indigenous government french Pétainists, against the FFI so-free-french terrorists and the Americans (necessarily Jews) who invade France.
I think we can pretty much keep the same system, we must just disguise terms (Parliament-> Hitler).

That's always been my line of thought 'it's only a game' and it is and I would like to capture as much of the actual happenings and events as possible. Also being a game, it does need customers and I am not sure if the customer base is ready for a torture action appearing over a US infantry unit ?

I don't mind any theatre, but I really hope the next game can focus more on the economics and nation building side of Coin. Body count is historical, but kinda oversimplifies the whole messy coin affair. IE natives complaining with the man on the moon problem. "Why can't you Yanks get us running water? You put a man on the moon".

I am probably in the minority, but I hope for multiplayer. As for COIN theatre I would like Burma both during the war and after war with Remnant KMT troops, Philippines with left behind US troops versus Japan, Lucha Contra Bandidos with Anti Communist forces versus Castro, Malayan Emergency (Communist Maoist Chinese versus UK), or Soviets versus Muhajadeen in Afghanistan in 80s. The Philippine insurgency with US versus Maori is also good. Heck even the Napoleonic Era Spain or Civil war Mosby would fit right in a regular coin model.

Iraq and Afghanistan is somewhat unusual for COIN, because , well Religion, and the ROEs, not to mention for Iraq you would need close detail in an urban environment. And the equivalent Arvins/indigenous forces in those places don't have much fight in them, maybe because it's hard to even define what they are fighting for or fighting against. At least ARVN there was a core that were staunchly anti communist, even if a lot of others were unwilling conscripts.

No torture please. Gather intel is enough detail. Interrogations is an art form, and some people will never crack until physical pain, but will happily diverge secrets if you befriend them. Others want money, or protection for their family. Different people require different methods.

I would want options to resettle unloyal villages and spread them apart in loyalist regions so the bad apples never reach critical mass. Or resettle the village inside my perimeter so the insurgents cannot reach the village to recruit, making their losses permanent.

I want that border hopping/ running thing to show even if you cut off the bad guy's source of native recruits, you can get an almost never ending supply of foreign bad guys (chechens etc), unless you secure the border. Porous borders were a headache to many COIN efforts.

Without giving too much away, nation building is core in the Afghanistan adaption

This is a tough one, the effort and cost to develop multiplayer are exponentially higher than single player, not just technical but balancing etc There has to be substantial demand to make this happen
kongxinga wrote:Soviets versus Muhajadeen in Afghanistan in 80s
High on the list...

We chose Afghanistan as the next adaption as it is classic COIN with defined players, insurgents, government troops, foreign influences etc Also very topical as it has just ended..... :?

Good point , but you could also bring aid and running water to them and change the loyalties.

Agree, original design of V65 had Cambodia and Loas in game
