So man 'ifs'... personally, I think they are lucky to have such a well behaved fan base. I have worked for companies where a few days' delay turns into fanatical uproar. I don't think us registering the occasional mild disappointment counts as storming Frankenstein's Castle just yet.

Good idea for one of the smaller scenarios: The Storming of Frankenstein's Castle 1931 AD. Poor-rated mob units surround circular Impassable terrain (no castle structure available yet) with only one opening. Those who make it through confront an Armored Elite figurine. I can't decide which figure would be best to represent the monster, though.

Do you need any help playtesting it?

Just thinking about doing it. But I think we need a dedicated figurine for the monster. Maybe also for the doctor and Igor.

If this goes on with silence there will soon be an equal amount of devs and fans... have you seen the MP lobby?

I completely agree with this observation. I've checked back here every now and again to see what progress there's been on the new version, but I must be one of an increasingly small band who can be bothered. This is not a reflection on Cothyso's heroic efforts to do a one-man rewrite, but on Slitherine's failure to keep its user base in the loop. I know that Stockwellpete is doing his best to keep the community going, but the company give the impression that they've more or less pulled the plug on the life support machine... If that's not so, then Slitherine might like to stop pretending that they're marketing the latest iPhone and start to pay back some of the loyalty customers have shown (by spending considerable sums of money on the game and its expansion modules), and actually take the time to tell us what's happening. Is that really much to ask?
Can you tell that I'm NOT IMPRESSED?

Me too...And would be appropriate Slitherine openly declare his intent, if only for honesty towards those who have purchased and supported the game.

Personally I'm happy to have a break from FOG so that I can explore other games in my limited free time. However, I do intend to get back into it once the new version is released. The biggest problem that the lack of communication is causing is that people are less likely to commit their time to a game/campaign/event/etc if it is going to be deleted from the server. If we could have a definite date of release that we solve the problem, even if the date is months away. That way people who are interested in playing will no doubt do so and the forums will become active once again.

Yes, clearing the server mean that I could not start Season 5 of the FOGDL. There is just too much work involved to set everything up and then I would have the worry all the time that the competition might have to be abandoned.
I have sent a message to Iain at Slitherine asking for the latest situation. If there is anything new to report I will let everyone know.

Hi guys
sorry for the further delay. The news we have is that Newrosoft need another week or two to finish things up. We'll update you when we have more news. I don't know how long it will take to create the final master and iron out any issues in this update so it may be best to get started on the current version instead of continually postponing your league. Sorry I cant give you any more specific information but at the moment we don't know.

Thank you for the update.
Let me make a suggestion: Plan to return here in 14 days with a report on how things stand with the release. That would be most helpful and reassuring.

Seriously! I am an experienced very-large community admin, and I implore my esteemed colleagues here to keep the leagues, cups, mp games and tournaments going while we wait.
I have noticed a sharp drop in numbers since January/December
The arrogance of intellectual people, like most of you here who choose strategy games, over lets say scripted RPGs or FPSs, knows no limits. Gaming is a habit, even more so around a specific game.... if we let the attendance and participation drop here we will lose members and decrease the size of the community permanently... we should not care about what Slitherine does or does not do, and I for one have accepted that the new FoG is nowhere near.
The old FoG is fine, although I wish they would release the books which seem to have been ready for ages... well ages ago.
YOUR participation attracts others to participate, that's how internet communities work... size feeds size.... and IF you don't want this community to go to bits, like so many fine ones before it, PLEASE stay and play a game or too to keep it running.
I am posting this as another thread as well.

I missed the news, and was assuming there was none.
