Nzsam03 (Early Gatae) 34/57 defeats Ulysisgrunt (28th-30th Dynasty Egyptian) 64/59

Fighting the majority of combat in an open field gave the Gatae medium foot a distinct advantage which the Egyptians could not overcome despite a spirited showing from their greek mercenaries.

After having our first initial battle, I thought that the win could go either way in these battles when you have Offensive spear HF fighting each other. So I decided to put my luck in having Medium Foot and hoping for some good rough terrain to fight in. It seemed to work out for me. Still, the Early Carthaginians put up a hell of a fight.

tofman04 (Thracian) 59/67 defeats Ironclad (Thessalian) 65/59

Another hard fought battle on a very open battle field suitable for heavy hoplites. But Thracians managed to won on the both flanks surrounding the Thessalian centre which collapsed in the end.
Thanks for the game.

Pool D2

Ironclad (Thracian) 71/71 draws with Boggit (Early Carthaginian) 48/47

Close fight, fought in the open with the Thracians making a major push on their left to outflank the long Carthaginian line. The latter responded with blocking units and advances in the centre and their left. Close quarters fighting finally saw the Carthaginians pull ahead before the god of luck helped the Thracians to a last turn equaliser. Great battle.

I just want to clarify that all Persian armies should be using the LATER Darius list 331 bc and not the early Darius list.

A tough fight wit an excellent opponent. It was a race to the centre - I broke the right flank then centre, but my left flank was overwhelmed.
