yes i agree we had better FAQ that bit in FAQ 3.0 in few weeks time.

We could have done better with a fuller glossary entry perhaps but the difference is

that in the glossary only 1 per X talks about per FULL X.
The entry for 1HP3 does not say per FULL X just X.

Its the full X vs X that is the difference - like integers in maths vs fractions.
So for the mathematically minded 1 per full x is effectively a round down, 1 per X is an exact figure that draws a line to go above or below.

Must confess we could have made it a bit clearer now I see what some of you are doing but I honestly never thought of it any other way than as above.

As with everything we will find little things to make clear as one only sees alternative interpretations when they hit a wide audience. :(

But at least we deal with them porperly as they come up. :)

Do you have an idea of the frequency of FAQ ? Each month ? :?

We will update it as deemed necessary after full discussion by the team.

When calculating casualty rates 1HP3 etc.

This say in the table the factors are for >= 1 hit per 3. Its the >= you are missing that makes the concepts different. There is no rounding, this is level to get equal to or above.

So if you have 4 bases 1.33 hits is 1 hit per 3. So 2 is >= 1HP3 and 1 is <1HP3>=) 1hit per 3 bases[/b]. So for a 6 this is 2 or more, for a 4 this is also 2 or more. But 1 per 2 is 3 or more for 6 and 2 or more for 4. So the 4s test and suffer a - every time, and thus are worse off.

Hope that helps. I have never found it confusion myself but heh! we all think we are clear when we read our own stuff!!
Where do you get 1.33 - there is no division in the rules. The rules say "1 hit per 3 bases" not 1/3rd of a hit per base. If you have 4 bases then 1 hit is >= 1 hit per three bases as you have only 1 lot of three bases.

I have always played it as you "round up" but I don't think the wording clearely supports - especially as the almost identical wording of "1 dice per 3 bases" is clearely stated as one for every full 3.

This is how I viewed it when I played my first game. with 4 bases you have each base worth .25, so 1hp3b = .33 in order to achieve that you need to hit at least 2 stands. Its not in the rules but rather another way of looking at the calculation. Personally I like to pre determine what each battle groups 1hp3b is and jot it down for easy reference. Its much easier to think of 2 bases rather than 1 hit in 3 : )
