Hi Guys,
Happy new year to you all. Been busy recently so not done much with Pike & Shot.
Apologies for the problems with the scenario's, not sure where things are going wrong. Starting to get a little frustrated, maybe it's just a little too complicated for my tiny mind. I found a couple of points on my lst file, so please try the link below...... You never know we may get lucky.
Battle of Roundway Down.

The implication that the present issues are the fault of the game is a little unfair - the problem is with Dropbox's links expiring, not with the game's scenario download system.
Sorry, no offense meant! With my remark I didn't want to imply that the ingame download function does not work; in fact it does work. - But knowing that a wrong scenario file structure can cause trouble I wanted to denote that from the scenario author's side there are quite a number of details to be considered and repeatedly checked before a file can be published for download. IMO the way scenario design is managed with the STUB game engine is quite complicated (scripting by editing .txt files, copying unit textures into seperate folders to make them available in a scenario etc. pp.) compared to other games, let's say FoG. P&S is a more complex game, but other games are complex too: The work with the Combat Mission scenario editor for example can be challenging but in the end you've got a single 240 KB .btt file and that's it. Do you get what I try to say? - I understand that we have to deal with the STUB engine's peculiarities and really appreciate the helpfulness of the Devs. BUT if things could be made a bit easier concerning scenario design I would be the last to complain if it would happen ...

Hello Warlord156!
Happy new year to you, too! Hope you'll continue with your work, the first scenarios you did were excellent; the problems that you may have can surely be solved with the help of the community.
Tried your new DL linl but I get the error message:
Data element of line is too long on line 37 in 'FromData' (0)

If Warlord sends me the files for his scenarios, I will set them up on the Slitherine ftp site so that they should be permanently accessible from the game.
Warlord, I have sent you a PM with my email address.
Richard

Warlord's 3 scenarios (RoundWay Down, 1st Newbury and Cropredy Bridge) are now available for direct download into the game.
All you have to do is
1) Select "Historical" from the main menu.
2) Select the "Download Community Scenarios" button at the top of the screen.
3) Select the scenario you want to load from the list in the User Contents Downloads window.
Et voila, when you go back to Historical you will find the downloaded scenario(s) in the list.

+1 It is a great little scenario. Took a peek at 1st Newbury earlier today. Will probably give that one a try after I wrap up a few of the MP games I've got going.

Thanks guys for the positive comments on my scenario's.
None of these scenario's would have been possible without the much valued help of Richard and Adebar...... thanks guys.
There will be more scenario's available soon. Hopefully better than my 1st three, as I have learned a lot more now.

Hi Guys;
Firstly, for the guys that sent me messages slating my scenario's. I agree that I made a few mistakes, none if which detracted from the game itself. I also made it clear that this whole process was new to me, and I was learning as I went along. I am now reluctant to release any more scenario's.
If you do note like my scenario's, the simple solution is not to play them.
To all those who gave me support, I thank you, and wish you many happy hours gaming P&S.
regards to all.

Don't be discouraged. As soon as you create anything, there will always be critics. However, there will be others who are very happy to have what you have produced, and it would be a shame to deny them that pleasure.
I am not sure what the critics expect from free user-created content, but if they can do better, perhaps they ought to prove it by putting up some of their own work for inspection.

To quote the sage herself: Haters gonna hate. Hate. Hate...
In seriousness, it is dispiriting to see people thoughtlessly criticising new free content, but I can assure you from long experience that the silent (happy!) majority are out there and eagerly awaiting your next scenarios
Cheers
Pip

@warlord156
I just wanted to say thanks for releasing MP versions of your scenarios. I'm in the midst of a match using the Cropredy Bridge one and it is great to be able to get to try out the Parliamentarian side against a human opponent. Wonderful work!
With the high ground I imagine a human opponent could put up a nice defense on the Roundway Down scenario. Just gave that one a whirl versus the AI.

Warlord156, i start making some scenarios only after seeing what you made with "Cropredy Bridge" a very good scenario with a wonderful map, it is very strange that someone discourage from making new scenarios, perhaps they don't know how many time and passion there is in every single scenario......Thanks for your old and "future" scenarios
