Do you plan to publish the runners and riders with their chosen armies?

Yes Richard I do - just waiting on one player to get their army list in, and four alterations due to errors on army lists - all of which should be simple to fix hopefully.

I have even bought the masking tape today to ensure the tables shrink to 60 by 40.

There will be a lift at the railway station, leaving at 0830, one possibly two cars - we only have 3 booked at present.

Meal is also booked just need to sort final numbers - are the Plymouth players joining us for dinner?

Dave S, Martyn, Alan C, Colin, Alan M, Linda and David F are signed up for the meal , just need to see if Derek, Paul, David P, Martin N and Simon B commit as well.

Remember for everyone its a short , thin table so large terrain pieces will NOT fit in the 5 or 6 central section.

Okay Ladies and Gentlemen, the runner riders and draw are in for Belgarum 2015: for what hopefully will be a fun, friendly weekend. First game starts at 0930 Saturday, 3.5 hrs long plus variable of plus 2 D6, last phase only. Game two starts 1345 Game three start is at 0900 Sunday , game four 1315 Sunday. The venue is open from 0830 when we will be setting up tables etc. Bear with us, its the first tournament the club to run and I am sure the off logisitical issue will occur.

Please ensure prompt arrival around 9. If you need a lift from Winchester station LET ME KNOW ASAP so I can arrange our members to collect - One is booked for 0830 for Dave and Gordon at present.

Table:

1. Richard Jeffrey Cooke / Mahan, vs Paul Bartlett / Medieval Portugese.

2. David Bannister / Muromachi, vs Steve Brown / Aztec

3. David Fairhurst / Later Anglo Irish vs David Pitt / Western Han

4. Alan Cutner / Aztec vs Linda Fairhurst / Early Macedonian Successor

5. Gordon Jamieson / Medieval Swedish vs Derek Bartlett / Italian Condotti

6. David Saunders / Ordonnance French vs Alan Macfarlane / Later Medieval German

7. Martyn Simpson / Later Republican Rome vs Martin Naylor / Italian Condotti

8. Colin Boulain / Carolingian Franks vs Phillip Jelley / Medieval Portugese

9. Louis Lingard / Roman-British vs King Alfred * / Ordonnance French.

*The Kind Alfred player will be made up of Wessex players who couldn’t make or face the whole weekend and is in place of a necessary bye. Last place player will play them each round, they will NOT collect pts, but players against them will. Simon Finney had to drop out last week so a bye is a necessary evil. If there isn’t a player from Wessex available it will be a bye worth ten initially for placement and then an average of your scores at the end. NOONE will get two byes as they will be deemed to have played King Alfred already.

We will endeavour (well Martyn will as he is running the draws) to ensure players from the same club do not play each other on day one but with Oxford, Plymouth, London and Wessex all having decent contingents, we will wait and see if this is possible – at least for round one it worked. We can't promise it sorry.

A real mix of armies here and I realise what a silly idea it was to use my virgin Muromachi in a tournament, let alone a short table. Not sure what they will make of knights but double plus at impact for the knights hitting us will not be nice – Dave Ruddock says he would ride down my rabble with Serbians if he were playing.

Please remember its a short table – 60 by 40 tables mean that a large double size terrain piece will not fit in the central two sections (those generated by 5 or 6 on the dice roll)
Also, the umpire version two collected decisions that are on the BHGS site will be used. All decisions however will be made by the Umpire (me in this case) and are final. Please consult the rules before calling me please!

Also – I have a number of sign ups for the dinner, menu on the slitherine site or at La Place, Winchester website. Please let me know if you want to know – Dave S, Linda, Dave F, Martyn, Alan, Dave B, Colin B and Alan I think are signed up so far but we can get more booked in if you let me know by Wednesday please.

Any problems, questions email me please - dcbannister@aol.com. :D

Surprising lack of pike armies for a short table comp,I'll work out how to play this game one day :) I assume Richards is Mayan not the US golfer
Lets hope he hasn't read my tactical manual on how to use it.

I look forward to playing King Alfred. Just wish I had decided on a Viking army.

My army is indeed Mayan. What tactical manual?
I note I am playing Paul in the first round. I played Paul in the first round at Plymouth earlier this month and lost 25-0! I am hoping not to repeat this feat...

Regards

Richard

I've seen this, its very short, and translates from the original Mayan to:

"Hold out baits to entice the enemy, then roll fives or sixes"

A bit like Tsun Tzu but more 5's and 6's involved

Actually I bought most of the figures off of a completely different David. Does that put me back in the running for third place?

I suspect that the Japenese, despite amazing me and everyone else in the practices vs Martyn will fall easily to anything like impact foot or knights. We will need our extra strong underwear I suspect.

The restaurant is now aware of one of our allergy sufferers, eleven players & wives are booked in and we even have table space for another three.

David
