Piss poor service from Amazon and to be honest not impressed with Slitherine/Osprey here either. I too got an email from Amazon saying a month's delay and whilst I acknowledge it is not Slitherine/Ospreys's fault they certainly raised expectations that the book would be out. How hard can it be for companies to tally quantity in stock vs quantity ordered ?

I note that Amazon are not offering the £4 compensation in their email, it looks like you have to acutally complain to get it. More poor service. I'll wait and see what my complaint produces.

The e-mail I received today from amazon stated

Estimated arrival date: 27/02/08 - 12/03/08

So, I could still be more than a month away!
Anyone know where I could find rules/lists before everyone else is playing FoG V2.0?

Must admit when I got the same message from Amazon re delivery dates I checked around several shops. The strange situation is that none of the stores I spoke to have received their supplies and Caliver for example are actually looking to sources elsewhere in Europe to get some copies for their pre order customers.

From Waterstones.co.uk

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately your item has not been shipped as we have not yet received it from the publishers. They are still awaiting the print run to complete. As soon as we receive your book it will be dispatched immediately.

Not very impressed by Amazon

Might cancel my order completley for the rules and lists and go back to WRG 6th edition

My estimated delivery date is 19th - 20th February. I have sent an email requesting confirmation...

It would be a bit embarassing to turn upto the first official tournament and still have a paper copy of the rules....

It sounds like there has been a logistical snarl up between Osprey and Amazon :( Let's hope it is sorted soon.

I have a copy on the way from Slitherine but as I have not seen any post through my door either yesterday or so far today I am starting to think that Phil and the DBMM thought police are out there sabotaging the UK postal service as well as Osprey logistics

Caliver is reporting sold out at the Publishers on their website

When JD posted the other day he mentioned that the first print run was sold out. I would suspect that companies like Amazon should have ordered enough to met their pre orders. If not then that is very poor on their part.

Even when a product is "sold out" at the publishers it doesn't mean that there are no copies available, just that you have to find a supplier who ordered more than they have sold so far.

At the moment I am more inclined to blame Slitherine / Osprey than Amazon. They can not deliver what they have not been supplied with can they?

If the first batch is sold out before it even officially is shipped that seems to show extremely poor confidence in their product by slitherine / osprey, they must have done a VERY small print run....

Exactly. Amazon and other distributors may have ordered any number of copies, but if Osprey hasn't printed enough to provide them on time, then there is nothing the distributor can do about it. Admittedly, underestimating the initial demand is a nice problem for Slitherine and Osprey to have, but that doesn't help us eager pre-order customers very much. I expect that a little patience on our parts will be in order.

Cheers,
Scott

Apparently not currently to USA customers. When that shipping destination is selected, the Osprey site says (in bright red letters) "Please notify me when this book becomes available to purchase."

Amazon US still shows (as it has all along) an estimated availability date of February 19, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Cheers,
Scott

"Patience". I have heard my wife mention this word before. I really must look it up to see what it means. I don't think it applies to me though :)

FWIW I have heard from a reliable source that the print run has already been increased three times in the run up to release. A surge of unforseen last minute re-orders has caused something of a problem in the supply chain.

I am confident that there will be an official stament from Slitherine and Osprey as soon as the position becomes clearer.

I got my books today (Sweden). Ordered directly from Slitherine/Osprey when the beta docs were offered for all pre-orders.

Wow, they are nice looking books. I will most likely buy all the forthcomming army books, just for the looks.
Now: time to read and start painting. :D

I think we just need to relax a bit. How many years have we been waiting for a good set of Ancient rules with a high standard of presentation? A couple more weeks should make no difference.

Amazon.co.uk claim they have not had any stock in yet of any of the rules books. They may be lying but I demanded an explanation as to why as I ordered on 1st January nothing had yet been despatched....

I am totally unimpressed with the logistics, but expect it will all be worth it when they finally arrive.
