I know its reading WAY too much into a screenie, but based on the crossed sword icons, Me guesses there will be phased resolution, which I like.

(I wonder if there are any additional screenies ou there?)
Filed of Glory allows 50-30 hex sized maps, not sure if the currently being updated version will allow for bigger....
BA allows for 64 x 64 maps. Probably better for the ranges and movement.
I agree on phased resolution for Black Powder era. Move, Offensive Fire, Melee likely.

Man, now I am drooling thinking about this, hopefully an easy to use map and scenario editor will be part of the game.
Since the game APPEARS to be incorporating Field of Glory terms and rules, maybe we'll see various expansions to enlarge the theaters of the game, Eastern Europe, Ottomans, Hussaria etc....

And it could easily be utilized for the Great Northern War and the War of the Spanish Succession, and with a bit of tweaking, be used for the Age of Reason.

It is a great looking shot!
I notice that the BA engine is not true 3d isometric, ie it appears that units further away from your perspective actually are sized smaller... nice touch, although I have always enjoyed 3d iso games (HPS sims, JT Campaign series etc) FOG is 3d iso for the terrain and units but for some unknown reason ELEVATION is flat top down, which IMHO makes the game look odd, and graphically, is my least favourite thing about FOG.

The game is being designed and developed by Richard Bodley Scott, who also designed the table top rules system Field of Glory Renaissance. It borrows a lot of concepts and ideas from the tabletop so by nature has to be a relatively simple system to allow players to manually calculate results however there is a huge amount of depth ion how all these simple calculations feed together. The mechanics have also been tested in tens of thousands of tabletop games so we know they work and are balanced so its a very exciting project.

Thats great news, the Ren rules are fantastic.
Will the game be be "updated" like FOG PC with expansions , ie "dags" from differnt eras? or is it more of a stand alone game?
Cheers!

The base game has 10 x 30 years war scenarios and a random battle generator with the armies of the period and an army designer (not as detailed as FoG Ancients but gives good options), and an editor.
Already in production is an English Civil War campaign and an Italian Wars Campaign and the armies that go with them.
More screenshots coming soon!

Iain means that the calculations have to be doable manually in tabletop FOG, of course - no calculation by the players is required in Pike & Shot!

Ahh, you could have designed it so after each combat, a multiple choice window popped up
“After reviewing the dice rolls, please Choose A) if you feel enemy BG lost a stand, B) Enemy lost 2 stands, or C) the enemy BG routed”
(If you chose incorrectly due to a penchant for cheating or not understanding the rules, your own BG is destroyed)

Looks like the change in engine to cover XVI and XVII centuries is a good option.
Maybe the only thing i "dislike" is the units art, compared with the terrain is a little back but i am more interested in how game works.

Is the editor able to create new 30 years war scenarios or only modifying the existing ones ?

That's what I want to hear! Field of Glory Renaissance rules have great mechanics and feel for the period.
