Ya ,we all want to avoid the highlighting stage :)

Yours is another good method , I worry it may end up with them too "bright white " , so they all look like their Mums have had a visit from the TV advert man selling new Omo ( "Troublesome blood stains again Frau von Jungingen ? " )

Thats why I'm going to hit them with a very weak black wash and hope they don't go grey ....trial and error I guess .

I won't be using snow bases , but rather will try to put contrast on the bases to make them stand out at 3'- table distance .
