I successfully updated the driver and I still get the same result when I try to play the game.

Any other suggestions? If not, is it possible to request a refund?

I have installed the game in a system with an Intel HD 3000 and was able to run it. So I believe it's not a compatible issue with your Intel HD 4000.
However something in your system is preventing the DirectX initialization. I really don't know what might be causing that.
Please contact our support[at]slitherine .co.uk with your order number and mention that we have already done some troubleshooting in the forum but unfortunately weren't able to fix the issue.
