I have played multiple GC DLC games with different Advanced and Custom options and in my humble opinion, I have seen no issues and the play was as expected based on those settings.

Reform units is already there. I suggested to add the new experimental options as well.

As "Kamerer" posted in the announcement thread and not here, I feel free to repost his important bugreport here:

"Is this also the thread to post errors in 1.21? I launched AK under 1.21 to see if the mine spotting issue was fixed. haven't got there yet, but found:

A) AK/axis player gets Allied (US) sidebar graphics.

Which I didn't notice at first, because you'd never mistake that eagle for a US one, but yep, it's the US sidebar. This was not the case in 1.20. Also in 1.20, "field" heroes (movement, spotting) - the spotting ones would carry over when units were embarked. I thought this was corrected back in 1.13 (or at least movement was). Haven't had a chance to test that in 1.21 yet."

Thanks for reporting, Kamerer, you really have very sharp observation skills. I checked out your bugs, and yes, the minefields suddenly have spotting 1 during sandstorms (screenshot available if necessary). Definately a bug, so hopefully it can be fixed.

About getting the wrong sidebar, I only get the wrong sidebar when I load a game. If I load a game (even from the main menu) the sidebar stays the type that is appropiate for the opening screen (Wehr/AK/AC), not the saved game.
So, if I load an Allied Corps savegame from the AK opening screen, I get the Axis sidebar. And if I load a Grand Campaign save from the Allied Corps screen I get the Allied sidebar. I need to highlight either and Axis or Allied campaign to get the sidebar to switch. When you select a new campaign, the sidebar switches as it should.

The (spotting) bonus of heroes still gets carried over to transports, I tested with rail and sea transports.

Another thing I encountered: I found that the tutorial campaign still screws up the game settings; after I have chosen the tutorial, the tutorial messages in the options menu are flagged 'on' and do not revert back when I choose another campaign. They need to be manually deselected, a small issue but maybe it can be fixed?

I started two games fresh (AK) and got the allied side bar each time.

I did use the PC launcher, not an Allied Corps-only one.

I also got it using the 1.21 beta launcher (AK opening with allied sidebar).

I played AK up to Palestine and noted the above.

I played up to Lodz in GCE '39 and it felt "too easy" vs. what I was expecting. I was expecting with the entrenchment bonus it to be pretty hard to get DVs now in an efficient manner. Finally at Lodz I got savvy and started checking the combat stats. This 1.20 change is not working:
* Entrenchment gives 2x defense bonus against ranged attacks
I check the combat calculator and the entrenchment is computed 1x. In AK, it is definitely 2x. I haven't played enough to check all the gameplay changes but some aren't in effect. During the original beta, in the early versions like Beta 1 or 2, I did play GCE '39 some and the 1.20 gameplay changes were working then.

Ah, Kamerer beat me to it... I noticed the same differences, I have played through GC'39 first and than started on a bit of AK/AC. Artillery seemed much less effective against entrenched infantry (which I like). BTW, if you want to check, the new entrenchment rules have 200% defense against ranged attacks, 50% against infantry and 100% (normal) against the rest.

I'm not sure if this behaviour is as it should be, but maybe the DLC's need a new gamerules file as well for the patch to properly work? I have copied the 1.21beta gamerules file into the DLC GC'39 folder and now all the changes seem to be in effect for the GC as well. As this beta only provides a 'main' gamerules file and doesn't replace any GC files, I don't know if it can be made to work otherwise. For me, it's an easy fix (just copy the different GC settings into a copy of the gamerules file).

I've zipped it up and attached it to my post, this is the 1.21beta gamerules file with the hero gain rate adjusted to the Grand Campaign numbers (much, much slower rate of gain). For anyone who wants to see how GC'39 plays with the new rules, you can put this file in your Panzer Corps\DLC\GC39\Data folder, and unzip it. If you want the rules for other GC's, put another copy in their respective 'Data' folders (they all have their own), and unzip and overwrite the file as well.

It will overwrite the original gamerules.pzdat file, so the zip contains a backup of the original DLC gamerules file, which you can rename to revert back, in case you didn't make a backup (which you did, right? :wink: )

Err - I don't think so. I thought one of the main purposes of the 1.21 was to get the 1.20 game rules to work with the GCE DLCs.

I launched AC and even starting in '40, I get the US sidebar. Wasn't there a UK sidebar if you started there in the 1.20 beta? I thought so.

Edit: I played further in AC and the mine spotting issue is in this one, too. I don't know if the fix is universal or game/DLC specific, but it happens here (AC) as well as AK.

Also, there was no voice-over for the briefings in AK or AC, either. Shouldn't that be working, too, in this beta?

So far i get the double value defense ratings for entrenchments hit by artillery fire in the German DLC and the combat log correctly shows altered values if i use a modded set. Havn't had to add any extra gamerulz files

Using Deducter GC units revision mod

I've tried to start a GC West 42/43 campaign,
choosed to reload an old core from GC east,
for scenario 1 St Nazaire, I have 12767 pp from my old core,

However when importing a core to GC west the pp are caped.
What feels wrong is that I have to wait until the start of the second turn of the scenario, for the reduced pp to be displayed properly.
i.e. during scenario setup, and during all turn 1, the game still diplay the old pp (herer 12767), then at the start of turn 2, pp shows 2000 (at 100%).

After several experiment, I set to play on custom difficulty,
- Rommel (probably not meaningful as I validate the 'custom diff' box),
- player pp 26%, for some reason I cannot set the slider to 25%, 26 doesn't make much a difference anyway.
- AI pp 150%
- AI level 2
- 1.20 rules
- dice chess
- reform unit

So at 26% of 2000 start pp, I should have 520pp
However I only have 104pp, file joined click endturn pp switch from 10148 to 104.

When starting GC west 42/43, as the pp displayed are wrong it is not clear, as if I made purchase during scenario 1 setup if they will deducted from the caped pp of 2000 or if I can make as much purchase as i want until I stay above 2000 before caping.

I reload the same core , with the same diff setting, made plenty of purchase, just to spend pp, but still had a base of 2000pp.

Overall it is not clear what affect the base GC west pp during the initial scenario setup, as the value displayed is wrong, and the real value will be effectively displayed only on turn 2

That is how it is scripted in the scenario, it resets on turn 2, so this behaviour is normal. It's not the most elegant looking solution to resetting prestige levels, I'll give you that, but it works as designed.

Thanks for the saved file, I checked it out. The amount of prestige looks correct to me, because of the Soft cap mechanism, which limits your income further. Considering that some of your units are very expensive in terms of calculated prestige cost (your Fallschirmjäger are more then 1200 pp each, I think), the Soft cap could be maxed out, so 20% of 520 = 104, which is precisely what you got, so it looks correct to me.

They did not include the 'Voice' sound folder with this beta, I assume it is to save bandwidth? So no voice briefings for this beta.

The DLC folders are absent as well, I think this beta reads the originally installed DLC's, with their older gamerules files. I'm not sure if the DLC's will get an updated gamerules file for 1.21 as well, or if this patch is supposed to let the DLC's work correctly without updating them as well. Currently, the existing DLC's on my system need modded files to work correctly with the new rules, that's all I know. And like you showed, there are several other issues that need to be fixed as well.

Yep, still a few things to work out but small. I think early GCE games are going to be pretty tough with 2x entrenchment, the timelines were tight as it was. Here's another question, maybe not related to 1.21:

I am playing Cassino (1.21). I have available for transport:

2/2 C-47s
1/1 Horsa Gliders

I loaded a non-motorized Canadian Infantry unit and it defaulted to the C-47, meaning I couldn't glider-land it anywhere as I intended. Seems it should have put the non-para unit in the open glider first, not a C-47. Seem wrong?

Hi,
I´m playing the GC of Panzer Corps using the 1.21 public beta version.
I don´t know if it is a bug or if it is by intension, but using the classical rule setup (1.14) I cannot receive any hero with initiative +3. I thought that this limitation is exclusively for 1.20?! Can anyone please clarify or comment this odd behaviour!

I noticed one little thing playing Piatek (GC 39 Rommel). A polish tank situated on a river hex attacked by an ordinary Me 109 fighter received suppression (i.e. strength turned red). Artillery and strategic bombers? Of course! But a fighter???

Bug or feature? ;)

Considering that some of your units are very expensive in terms of calculated prestige cost (your Fallschirmjäger are more then 1200 pp each, I think), the Soft cap could be maxed out, so 20% of 520 = 104, which is precisely what you got, so it looks correct to me.
Thanks ThvN for the informations, I wondered if it was a possible bug.
It's clearer for me now, I have no problem with the 'softcap' limit, but as it happens behind the screen it is not obvious to figure out the end result. And concerning GC west 42/43, it was neither obvious for me if this core was above average or not. I mean, I have a fair idea of what is a strong core for GC east, as everybody start with the same core in 39 (and I have played it many times). But obviously when we import a core for GC west there is much more room for core strength variations.

Playing the Dieppe scenario from GC west 42/43, something strange happened, a enemy unit pop up out of nowhere in the green circled hex. I checked the unit ID, and it was not on map the previous turn. Should'nt my units on both side exert ZOC hence prevent reinforcement?

How exactly do you come up with a calculated prestige cost that has fallschirmjagers valued at 1200 pp ? How much is a King Tiger worth ?
